Don't blame them, they do not know any different. They are XI diehards with no experience anywhere else. I used to be the same way too, until I played Rift. After downing Akylios I finally understand what a boss fight experience should be and if Yoshi-P can capture that we will be so lucky. Unfortunately we have people here who are so caught up in their ways that they are afraid of any change. It will be nice in 2.0 maybe they can make some fights with some real mechanics.
Same, XI is past... after playing WoW at high level (did Lich king hm first kill italian), i understand what a challenging and hard fight is... FF (xi and xiv ) are only tedious not hard...
Say that about cop's pre nerf airship fight and I will punch your teeth in.

Jinko I understand how you feel, but i have one thing to say a lot of EU players seem to be so tight knit that they wont play with other EU players cause they all from different regions, almost when ever i do something with EU players it involves them having like 6 ls members and 2 pick ups cause the other ls members could not come. Just seems like to me they wont play with others unless they have to.(not angry or anything just the way i see it)
Yup it was tedious. Worst possible example.
Had to farm CCB Polymer for every serious attempt. Fight was 45 minutes long and at that time we would often need 40 minutes to win, retrying often mean 30-40 minutes waste because we would often fail at the end. (or simply timeout)
Add to that the 2 hours factor, which sure weren't "needed" but would greatly help to win Airship pre-nerf, well if you fail... have to wait for 2hr to come back. Finally EXP loss, which was problematic at the time, especially pre-ToAU before easy exp. You couldn't simply run tons of dry attempts.
Tedious.
Airship fight without all the element above would be cleared more easily, even before the nerf.
If we had no EXP loss, one CCB Polymer per player and per fight given when you enter, 2hr abilities recharged with each attempt, and overall less HP for bosses (so the encounter doesn't last 45 minutes), things would be completely different.
It seems that you lack experience in MMOs to be able to determine clearly the difference between something tedious and something hard.

yeah cop we're nice.. but with my group (the same that moved from xi > wow after wotg) we did them without so much problem.. (pre-nerf) ... The real problem is that XI's players are anchored to the past... they're even ok with chimera fight .. (everyone standing in the safe point for 10 mins, nuking the poor beast till she die.. is this fun? uh?) ... When my friends saw the chimera fight video they laughed at me.. (they're on SW doing nightmare mode now, and i'm the only one still on XIV ) .. And the only thing that i could do was agree with them.. after i did so many hard fights with them, chimera looks simply "old and boring" ...
Yeah but can you imagine if SE was able to make fights like that with the game we really love? I truly think that is what Yoshi is after because he plays other MMO's and realizes what is out there.
I agree with this while Ifrit inst hard, he is much better built boss than anything XI ever seen even Batraal is more interesting than anything in XI, so i know they can only get better.
