Thread: US Servers at 2.0?

The server merge we're having now would have been a great time to introduce NA-Located servers like every other MMO but it didn't happen so, at 2.0 will we finally get some Regionally Located server options? Having like 2 NA server options and some European options would be great for reducing the lag we have. If we're hoping for FFXIV be a faster-paced game we need to have lower latency options

Developers have stated multiple times that the largest latency issues isn't the servers location.

Either way I'm against encouraging people to sequester themselves into NA / EU / JP servers. I play a MMO to play with people around the world. I play at odd hours for a "NA" player and enjoy being able to find people at any givin time of day.

I'd be all for the "Give em a choice of local or global" servers but it would probably just spiral into everyone cloistering themselves in the regional servers.

Why not? Most people tend to stay with people of their own language, and only interact with others when it's necessary. There is nothing wrong about giving people an option to play exclusively on a server of their peers.

That's half the charm of FFXI/FFXIV. It's nice having people from other cultures playing with you, instead of segregating yourself. I'm with Jynx on this one too, I like playing with gamers from all over the world!

That' fine, I don't think anyone is calming to dislike playing with others from around the world, but when it impacts your gameplay or gives a disadvantage of claiming or better chances of winning PvP battles then you have to start weighing the pros and cons.

You may be ok to sacrifice your gameplay for the added benefit of talking to others around the world but personally I'm not.

Of corse I'm not saying I am right and you are wrong, but I think we should be given the choice to play on regional servers if that's what we would prefer.
Ragnarok server was a step in the right direction they just need to it to the next level and offer at least 1 or 2 (depending on population) servers in each region.

I play with people all over the world. Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, and even Israel... We enjoy this diversity, and all speak English...

It's nice to say "I want diversity" but what about the rest of the community?

Why do people want to play an international MMO but want to play on "NA/EU servers" only? There's plenty of NA based MMOs out there that excludes everyone but NA/EU players from playing on their servers.

What I don't get is why people think segregating players will suddenly solve all issues, all it'll do is create more issues in the long run. For example NA people tend to run on EST for raids for whatever unholy reason, which means unless you find a PST or CST based shell, it's not like you suddenly have more people to play with, you'll essentially have less people to play with.

In XI and XIV I've actually played with more European, Greek, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese players than I did American players because they tend to want to run at 5pm - 9pm est, times I'm usually at work.
