Allow me to point out that Yoshi P himself said that this new Alliance raid (Myths of the Realm) is not an MSQ alliance itself and has no relevancy to the MSQ. While it does reflect on the lore and origins of the twelve, by that standard it's as "relevant" as the NieR collaboration mostly by your definition.

But much like every other Alliance raid before and after, the bottom line is "they happened" and unless you're a super angry forum user that won't touch the NieR raid out of a weird-ass self implied principle, you can choose to ignore them at your leisure by that standard.

Much like the people who announce their departures from social media, I don't exactly understand the need to announce vitriol towards a collaboration a majority found fun to do with a ton of rewards and fan service. Like... let them have fun with it.

I just want variety. We had Nier content. It was nice, it was ok. Not a fan of a how it ended but I'm glad that the journey at least was fun for me and the glams are nice to boot ( I wish they had done different glams for the final leg of the raids though). If there is to be another collab, I wish it was toward something different. One of the easier request for example is PSO2 because they had one. Then there's a hard one like Kingdom Hearts, because of the whole Disney legality thing. What about Valkyrie Profile? Elysium is coming out this year but you could always make something with the older games as a shoutout and to garner interest. Idk how Chrono Trigger/Cross would look in FF14 design but Yokai Watch made it in so I don't see why they couldn't make it work.

So yeah, the list goes on but if I had to pick between fresh new collab and Nier, I'm picking the former 10/10 times.

We already had a the Nier raid and its post raid quest and I don't think we need yet another one especially since Nier seems to do collab with so many different franchises.

The latest collab announced is with PUBG. Try that game out you just might like it.

Not sure if you saw the interview prior to Endwalker dropping last year, but my question was the top liked one so as far as TARO and Yoshi P answering the question on the Flight Unit and Pod mounts:

Hello YOKO TARO and Saito-san!
A lot of us XIV and NieR fans were hoping we would see the Flight Unit mount that 2P uses in the Copied Factory. Will we see it in the future? A lot of us would like to have our own flight unit as a mount!
Also, Can you confirm for us if YoRHA, Dark Apocalypse is canon to the DrakeNierverse by any ties at all?
Is YoRHa canon to XIV and will we ever see original androids in XIV in the future?

YOKO TARO: Oh absolutely, if you have the budget, just go for it. The two of us are quite at ease now that the collaboration is complete, so our hearts are simply brimming with, “Oh yeah, go ahead!”

Yoshida: I think our Development team is the most surprised right now... at the very least, I’d like to do something about the pod. As for the flight units, they do morph quite a bit, so I’d like to discuss it with the Development team.

So, in due time we should hopefully see the Flight Unit mounts.

A crashed Flight Unit on the moon with a data log recorder would be a nice Easter egg - no relevance other than "they landed on the moon somehow" before they hit Norvrandt.

And then we salvage it and make Cid fix it up for us.

I can't find it right now, but I seem to remember reading that the Flight Units are a problem because the pilot goes entirely inside it, which causes issues with less standard-proportioned characters like Lalas, Roes, and Hrothgar. And also clipping with tails and Viera ears, but those go without saying.

I recall something like this as well. The asset is in the game as a whole entity and not like lets say... how a Magitek Reaper is for Garlemald NPCs.

I just assume what they'll do like they've done for a lot of mounts is to make it scale as is. Remember when the Regalia was brought here from the XV event? Many wondered how a Lalafell was going to drive one of those things.

Answer: Petal shifters.

For the flight unit, they can be Just strapped in from the belly. You couldn't even see legs anyways - just a torso and head. Viera and Hrothgar shouldn't have too many difficulties either though I imagine it's just the dev team working out things on their end. Tails can be hidden or tucked away. Kinda like the cape thing that they're doing now. If it takes awhile for us to get them I'm all for the wait. Do it right and fair for anyone interested.

I found the Nier Raids extremely underwhelming, and the pretty hamfisted referentiality convinced me against trying the series out.

The glams are really generic JFashion, and while I'm glad that's there for the people who care about it, I don't need more of that, nor do I particularly need or want any other aspects of Nier aesthetics in this game. I really hope the event is the furthest extent they will continue to feature that franchise because it is definitely not my jam.
