1 pack at a time means you're bad? That just told me you don't know what you're talking about.

If you are consciously and regularly making the choice to pull one pack at a time, independent of considerations for your party dps/healing, yeah you're absolutely a bad tank. There are extreme edge-cases where you might choose to do 1 pack, but 95% of the time you should be pulling 2 packs at minimum.

You seem to think of it as a bad thing, or a punishment of sorts. That's not the case. It's merely a means of reminding one to be careful or letting them learn. Defeat can very much be a great teacher, and having the YPYT method does not equate malice, condemnation, or toxicity.

If a parent tells their child that the Stove is hot, and the child touches it anyway, the child is less likely to touch the stove when it's hot. That's all it is.

I had a chat macro ready that said in party chat something along these lines:

I made it in such a way that at the click of a button on my action bar, I could get it across to the party members that I am in no mood of competing aggro with DPS, and I also told them that if they are the ones to pull it, I will not pick up aggro, and they're the ones to tank it.

I guess where i'm going with this is to make a macro to explain the rules, but it's extremely important that you add in "You pull it you tank it."

When your entire stance on an issue is built on disingenuous nonsense, you're probably on the wrong side of the issue my friend.

Removing the aspect of intent from your analogy completely invalidates it, but you already know that. Intentionally griefing your party is a choice, and will never not be extremely embarassing.

In this analogy, wouldn't the parent be dutifully watching over thier child, making sure that they do not touch the hot stove - and if they did, immediately providing medical aid and attention?

Kind of like how the tank stays out in front of a group, and pulls enemies off of any other players who happens to pull them. YPYT would be the equivalent of a parent going "well you put your hand on the stove kiddo, time to just sit there and think about your second degree burns."
