In a game with E8S why is SE banning people with suggestive Adventurer Plates?

I mean.. implied nudity is one thing but does it look like there might be.. some... ONE behind the hearts? Hands behind the head.. head back with eyes closed? I'm not going to ask for this picture because I don't want y'all getting in trouble here, but there's being in a bikini bottom.. and then there's potentially showing cropped softcore. Angles would be important too.


I'm not going to go so far as to say they meant to show something or not, but like.. It's obvious they at least wanted it to be a little cheeky.. which might be the breaking point.

I think the issue with the whole thing is it is going to be very subjective on enforcement. Rules are never good when subjectivity of the person enforcing the rule is going to drive whether people are banned or not. To be honest I think adventure plates should be off by default in PvP with a toggle option for people that want to see what others do to adventure plates. Add a warning in there that adventure plates aren't moderated content so you 100% know what you are getting into before you turn them on. To me they are user content that, other than PvP, you have to actively search for to see them and you should know what you are getting into when you do look at random players plates.

I don't care enough to debate whether people should get suspensions or not. Lewd plates are obviously against the game's community guidelines.... which were updated and posted recently.

If SE would just limitate the angles of the camera for adventure plates the problem would be solved. no one could take pictures which may offend others...
And ther eis still the question, what people await to see when opening adventuere plates?? Why the heck open them on first place, what do you expect to see there?? why opening them?? what is that person to you that you open the plate?? It wasnt there before, now it is and it looks to me that people just run around openign others plates to see what this person did... and OHHHHHHHHHHHHH there is a pose which offend me because i see an almost naked ass...


Serious? close the plate and go away... stop complaining and dont open plates if you may feel offended by what you see...

In Crystal Conflict PVP matches the pictures flash before every match. They could remove this of course.. but... this is where the majority of complaints are coming from.

And serious number 2. RELAX damn, every kid today have more access to porn and other stuff in TV and internet than this game ever can provide...

okay, that i can 100% agree too... they should simply turn that off. i mean why have they to show that at all? to see the face ( or in this case, the ASS ) of your enemy you going to kill maybe? damn, some things are just wasted time, and in my opinion, these plates are one of them...

It's not subjective. I know many would like to think that it is, but it actually isn't. The line is quite clear, and when you design your plate it would be far more prudent do so in a way that doesn't even call it into question. The "subjectivity" you refer to is nothing more than a player wanting to know how far they can go before it is offensive.

I wanna tell you all somehting.. like i said i am from east germany, we have nudistbeaches there... when the border to poland was opend because they went into the EU there was a problem at the coastline... Polish people are very religious. When they walked along the beach and came into the german area people was nude there and the polish people got offended and started complaining about it...
( you get the point? your line vs my line...) solution was, to create a 200 m long area , 100 m to both sides of the borderline, where signs was piled up: german side: Here ends the nudist beach, please respect the rules and dont offend people. polish side: here ends the swimsuitarea, be aware to see nude people on the ohter side of the area.


something like that... so, different cultures, different lines. You say some people extend to test the limits, i dont say you are wrong, what i am saying is, why are YOU the one who think to set these limits if a picture is offending or not...

And at least is still have the question, why was SE not limiting the cameraangles, so thats not even possible to do such pictures?? got no answer on this one yet...

The line is neither yours or mine. It's just a line. It's just there. A boundary, if you will.

And nude beaches dude? Really? Ok, putting aside any objective issues I have about humans being the most civilized of the mammalian species i.e. not being animals; we wear clothes for very practical and sanitary reason, blah, blah, blah. FFXIV isn't a nude beach, nor does it give any implications or encouragement of such. And before anyone goes, "Umm... moonfaire gear, bikinis, Costa del Sol, duuhhhh!" Let me also add that these features in the game still do not imply or encourage nudity or sexualization of one's own avatar, and basically are there to role play having some fun in the sun as normal people, at a normal beach go to do. People who think just showing some skin immediately equals sex need to grow up a bit, and realize intent makes a big difference.

SE’s. The line is SE’s. And they’ve made it clear what not to do. Nobody cares what your line is, or mine for that matter. In case the ToS isn’t clear enough for you, I’ll simplify it: (this applies to everything btw, not just these plates)

Don’t make something that A) could be easily misunderstood by a random person, to where B) they might report it, which is then C) checked into by a GM, who then D) agrees with the report that your action/thing/whatever is questionable and then E) takes action by banning/suspending/giving you a warning strike.

It isn’t much different from that guy trying to defend their FC with the ERP tag we had going on a few weeks ago. “But the E means Expert” or whatever they said… riiiight.
