Yes. So they'd have to inflate the game with more models and stuff for all the varying gear you can equip. To adjust them to make them look like the wearer is taller/wider/etc.It was texture stretching they cited as being a concern if they decided to make the sliders more...generous.
XIV is a bit strange in that gear does not overlay clothing meshes/textures onto a base character model when changing it and rather changes out that part of the body entirely, which is why there can be a bit of disparity with body proportions between different pieces (Minfilia's top and the 2B bottoms being the most notorious examples).
I to, want to hug people like only Dulia-Chai can.
Holy Ishgard, yes.
Don't care much about the body shape since there is a height slider. But a thigh or butt slider would be nice, as well as a head and shoulder size slider.
More emphasis on retexturing skins (adding shading details and flush for example), smoothing lips, no more janky nose tips like seen on Y'shtola, higher quality faces overall, fixing makeup, adding better more detailed hairs: holy crap- the number of meh hairs heavily outweigh the nice looking ones.

At least for myself, I'd just like my character's bottom half to be filled out as much as her top half. It looks strange to me to see my character bascially have a perfect feminine physic on the top, but the bottom she has stick legs and a butt flatter than a cutting board.
The 2B bottoms basically complete what I'd imagine my character to look like from the bottom down and I wish she looked like that all the time without the 2B bottoms equipped. :<
Yes! I've been wanting luscious options for a long time for cosplay/glam reasons. I've been recreating a lot of characters that are canonically chubby like the queen of hearts from Alice in Wonderland but there are no fat female options. Even if I choose a bulky race like highlander or Roe, they are not chubbydub. It's also a problem with male characters. I've tried creating several male characters that are supposed to be fat but using Highlander to recreate a short fat man like Cid from FF8 doesn't work and Highlanders don't have the Thancred hair style I need either. Just give us luscious curves please!Maybe even some fat body types. I'm not talking morbidly obese, I'm talking like normal bodies. The type of bodies that are wider framed even when they work out. Believe it or not, its actually unrealistic for all bodies to be completely thin, and I think FFXIV does a bad job of showing this. Eulmore was a step in the right direction, but those people were fat because of over indulgence. You can be fat even without overindulging. Some people just have bigger genes. I want to see more variety in the options for the all of the races.
Considering SE would have to remake every piece of gear, all of the character models, the character creator itself, all while implementing the morphs needed for these hypothetical new sliders...This isn't even remotely in the cards. Maybe for their next MMO if they build a robust cc out of the gate, but certainly not this one. Its a ludicrous amount of work.
Doing changes to the body basically is the main issue with making new races.
Do things like allow Au Ra to change the color of their scales in the graphics update? Sure, may not be too hard with the better specs. They figured out that stuff with Hrothgar.
Make cross breeds as in "X with Y's head!"? Sure, should be possible to make a Lala with a Miqote/ Viera/ Human ears and such so long as it's just changing the head stuff and some textures, not animations.
But actually changing the shape of the body is a no no as it results in you having fit all the gear for it and make new animations. Once you do that, you're doing the same amount of work as a new race.
From a discussion in one of the large threads on the subject, apparently the method for "figuring out the stuff with Hrothgar" is that they're actually switching heads-with-attached-hairstyles rather than the hairstyles directly.
By that mechanism I doubt that Au Ra scale colour could be modified, but it certainly sounds like they could use it to implement horn choice.
That's interesting, but I was referring to the Hrothgar fur patches and fur pattern changing colors. That seems to take up some amount of their design budget given that YP said they had to keep the tips of the tails black as they reached the memory limit. I take it that they could find a way to allow scale color changes if they wanted to.From a discussion in one of the large threads on the subject, apparently the method for "figuring out the stuff with Hrothgar" is that they're actually switching heads-with-attached-hairstyles rather than the hairstyles directly.
