I mean... to get a house: Yeah, both give awful chances.

For mental and physical health? It's not even close. Doing those marathons clicking a placard for a little over 3 months for our FC house not only destroyed my sleep schedule, but it hurt my hands (which sucks because I also do art) and it made me experience the worst literal headaches I've had in years. I missed out on content, on playing other games, and on doing literally anything else with my time. I can't click as fast as a bot, let alone for how long "prime time" lasted for most plots. Clicking for four hours only to lose to a bot for the 12th time? No thanks.

In that sense, lotter is just infinitely better. It's still a coin flip, there's still scalpers, but not only does it make it impossible for them to click faster than I with a bot, but I can at least live my life while I wait for the coin to land.

Does the housing system need a major overhaul? Yes. But f*ck FCFS to the seventh hell.

Nope, you cannot. The hard limit is that you can have 4 airships and 4 submersibles, of which any 4 can be out at a time. Or at least, that's the limit on my FC's house, which is a large plot. So far as I know, every company workshop is identical once you have it.

As for the thread in general -- yes, apartments are great and all—albeit limited in space and items—and I have done things I am really proud of decor-wise in apartments. My favorite interior housing setup I've ever done is the little zen space I put together in my FC private chambers (I really ought to do a little 'tour' of it in images/video at some point), and I've got a lovely library I've been prototyping in my old apartment.

But I think the pride and joy of all my decor work I've ever done is the yard of my personal house, which is almost like a tiny little park... and that's something I could not have done anywhere else. So apartments are not really a substitute for personal housing; aside from their limits on decorations and the smaller space to work in, you cannot do outdoor decor at all with an apartment.

And for all that I will readily point out why I think open-ended/unlimited instanced housing in the game probably isn't feasible from a technical standpoint, I don't think players are wrong to keep pressing for some better solution. Because this game has exactly two things with limited availability: seasonal PvP rankings, and housing. (It would be three, but the Ishgard restoration rankings are now a thing of the past.)

But the PvP rankings (and Ishgard rankings) are like trophies: you still get to participate in the systems, you just might not have the highest score and thus get the winner's trophy/ribbon/whatever. With housing, however, it is down to fate or luck (or, in the past, heavily gaming the system by botting or using dummy FCs)... and if you get gated out of it due to bad luck, you just can't participate in the system at all.

    And that's Not Great.

If we had to pay rent in game I would be depressed, sure I could probably make the rent, but I am already paying the subscription. Aion I vaguely remember having insane rent requirements. During the period when the game had not many players making money in general became a bit rough because not many people were playing so less people would buy anything but seasonal event items, or resources which similar to here bots would usually try to flood the market. The one good thing was you could sit somewhere and set up a little shop of your own somewhere.

This was what I could find on it.

    Maintenance Fees
Houses and up are subject to a weekly maintenance fee. If the maintenance fee is not paid, 1st and 2nd warnings are given. If, following these warnings, the overdue house maintenance fee is still not paid within the ensuring 2 weeks ownership is revoked and the house is listed for auction. 90% of the house's cost will be refunded to the owner.

The maintenance fee can be paid for up to 4 weeks in advance.

Of course their sub eventually went away, but I am only assuming this was how their system was set even before that.

Please by the twelve I hope they will never think of doing this.

These fees are just to pull money out of the system. And the ones who just play sometimes are in need to gather the money if they wanna keep the house. So thats just another way to force people to spend time to do run around in the game.

In FF14 a good example are these windaether to unlock flying in an area: just timestealing... annoying to be forced to run around. But i know: some will say: you dont need flying ( yeah i dont need it you are right) and you see somethign of the landscape...

Do we need rent for houses? absolutly NOT. i dont wanna log in the game just to be forced to farm money to pay the housefees....

Do i have a private house? no and i never will buy one if i can loose it... noone ever know if there is something keeping you away over 45 days to login... then all is gone...

And about the lottery. none of these solutions is perfect, to force people to stand in front of a placard and click in hours like idiot bots is not the way it should work. If the timeset would have been between 10 minutes-60minutes, but HOURS?

Now, like it is said by some others already, you just go, put your bid and Fortuna is flipping the coin insted of clicking. So ja, you can use your time waiting better now without destroying your hardware....

Let us be honest the auto demo is a joke. They keep it on the look like a bad guy. They disable it for a year no new houses open up.

On a side note wasn't their a road map for more wards with new server and data centre?

16th of may it say, it probably would be +1 day or somethign to that, so people can get their stuff working and then lottery goes again as first intended.
