they just need to implement /hidecharactermodel so everyone will be happy. If no one can see what they look like no one can complain about how they look.

I feel like it was put in the poll for that reason... to distract the community (And its working, i.e. 150 posts of Viera talk)
I bet the JP community is buzzing over this
I bet you're right

They're not Galka. Let FFXIV be FFXIV.
Even though I have been entertaining this thread, I agree. On a related note, I was checking the total pages across in the General Discussion boards of each language:
English: 450
Japanese : 50
German: 15
French: 22
Those are approximate, but the point is still there. We make far too many threads about the silliest stuff.

A number of people have mentioned this however looking back at the poll that seems more to pertain to new Beastmen tribe rather then playable race.
Also while you may not think it is relevant you have to understand that many players find things like Racial distinction very important!
Being in a world completely populated by same stated, same looking, hardly fleshed out races is very boring. It kills the general air of fantasy if you have 5 different sentient species that all look nearly identical or lack any interesting difference. (Mono-genderism is one that I found endearing which they are also destroying but that is another thread.)

Get a life. There are far more significant things for the developers to worry about than whether or not Roegadyn have tails. Get over it. I also don't appreciate when people are so arrogant as to start posts that have we, we, we in them as if they speak for everyone.

Yea but it's a video game... which means (And I know people are going to hate me for this):Even though I have been entertaining this thread, I agree. On a related note, I was checking the total pages across in the General Discussion boards of each language:

Nothing (and I mean NOTHING) that deals with A VIDEO GAME is ultimately important...
So the difference between the most "important" topic and the "Silliest" topic is minimal...
People play this game for enjoyment, and they are free to play how they want
People should also feel free to discuss whatever aspects of the game they want
I agree with you on one point... I had no idea people felt so passionately about adding (or not adding) bunny people... but they really can talk about whatever they like as much as I am free to not click those threads
Also.... as a matter of principle... wouldn't the most important issues be the ones at the top anyway?
How do you assign importance? Wouldn't the threads with the most discussion be the ones that are significant?
if a thread gets buried, then it is possibly not as important to the community at large
So people should try not to be upset because the community isn't actively discussing the things they'd like to talk about.
This is something I definitely agree with though... We are all so tired of people thinking they speak for all of us
I agree with you in the regard that it's all trivial to the overall quality of life. However, with respect to the quality of the forum, a lot of this might be considered 'loosely relevant' and in some cases even flat-out spam. Don't ask me how I know this, but browsing the JP GD lately, I've noticed that the same topics have been on page 1 for about the past week. Even the best topics here are lucky to stay on page 1 for that long here.
We should try to make an effort to organize a bit. Break down the GD into individual threads dedicated to a single purpose.
For example:
Complaints-
Suggestions-
Requests-
Player Departure-
Returning Player-
Videos-
Screenshots-
Etcetera-
Just a thought.

I see both sides too though... Was the OP in this thread a little too passionate about something that is relatively unimportant... maybe....
But let people be silly... its a game forum...
If "Final FANTASY Forum" isn't the venue for silliness than I don't know what is
Some people just take their fantasy way too seriously
