Got my WoL alt through enough of 6.1 to unlock Aglaia; I'd gotten my drop on my main literally my first run this week, so decided to push her through to do it again a few times, and tank for friends who haven't gotten their weekly loot yet.

The second run I did on her (with a couple FC mates, after we'd all had dinner), I ended up having to MT because... honestly, no idea. One DRK had their stance on, but we idled in front of Byregot for nearly a full minute before I just threw mine on and ran in. They never fought me for aggro or started a provoke war, so I guess they were just... vibing?? I'm grateful enough for the lack of stupid provoke wars, I guess.

But despite the fact I was MTing the whole way through, my two ASTs just... barely ever healed anyone. I think they were only using Horoscope and Macrocosmos, with like... 4 essential dignities throughout the raid total? (I don't play AST, so couldn't say what heals they were using exactly, but I know enough to know I wasn't receiving many - if any at all) I was having to be healed from low health by the SGEs in another party, because my healers just weren't bothering to do anything except Malefic spam, I guess. We had quite a few deaths in our party due to this, and my friend's desperate Vercuring and res'ing only marginally helped.

Heck, they wouldn't even heal themselves most of the time. Genuinely have no idea what was up, but it was annoying to say the least. I appreciate those SGEs in the other party and wish I could have thrown some comms at them, but alas.

It's been months since this happened to me but I still have the general idea of what happened.

I queued for Dun Scaith as Pally once, and it was business as usual until we reached the 2nd boss and the pain began. A Gunbreaker was provoking and running around with the boss and everyone started complaining. They were told to stop but the tank says "I'm new to tanking " and continued to do the same thing, so I decided to be the MT instead. I used provoke, but the new tank counter-provoked me, and so I started an aggro war against a troll. At least Ferdiad didn't have any cleaves that cold wipe most of the alliance :')

When we got to Proto Ultima, the new tank started provoking and only using their ranged attack, so I had to give up on any dps and just spam Shield Lob and counter his provoke when needed. Unlike Ferdiad though, Ultima does have a cleave attack and the gunbreaker managed to provoke right before the cleave, making the boss face everyone and kill 4/5th of the alliance. On the 2nd try we did enough dps to skip the cleave so we were fine. There wasn't any other way they could mess with Proto Ultima.

Scathach and Diabolos went surprisingly well iirc. People died because of the aggro war but we didn't wipe at least. I did not like only using shield lob lol it was pain.

I just don't understand the healers-not-healing mindset. Sure, I can get it sometimes if you're getting tunnel vision while learning mechanics, maybe; if you really need to focus on something, you might let someone drop a bit low. But like... my job as a healer is to keep everyone alive. Ideally I do that entirely with efficient use of oGCD heals and other tools (regen, etc.) and spend most of my GCDs on damage; in like 90% of content, that'll be more than sufficient.

But if you're in a situation where there's a question between "drop some damage GCDs" or "the party dies", you drop the damage GCDs. Because there are vanishingly few situations where a couple of GCDs of healer DPS is going to make up the difference between "this DPS is alive and DPS'ing" and "this DPS is on the floor doing no damage, or raised with Weakness/Brink of Death and doing less damage".

Not even using the oGCDs like Essential Dignity only bewilders me further.

Well, haven't been able to share anything due to nothing really happening lately until a few minutes ago where I made a small mistake

The Tower at Paradigm's Breach
So I queue through Alliance Roulette after just waking up from a super long nap after working today (which now I know not to do that) and I get queued into Paradigm's Breach on my MCH since I'm leveling it. Due to me being groggy still and kind of slow, I mess up a few times during the Red Girl section though everything goes fine the rest of the raid until we reach the final fight of the raid. For some stupid reason, I haven't grinded the necessary MGP for the /sheath and /draw emotes, so I typically use 'Z' to draw my weapon, literally do this every single time and wait until the whole raid is ready to go, and since I'm getting used to my larger laptop that I recently bought, my thumb slipped, hit the touchpad on my laptop which caused me to auto attack the boss. I freak out for a few seconds, mind going blank since I never usually attack before everyone is ready, and tired brain is struggling to comprehend what the hell I just did and then unnecessary passive aggressiveness sparks from the DRG in my alliance saying "Dude" Then promptly slapping me with the big "Target to Ignore" over my character's head.

Quite frankly I was a bit annoyed for two seconds as I explain that it was completely unintentional and it was a complete accident (as I hadn't pulled anything early throughout the whole duration of the raid, wasn't like I was trolling or rushing through it before), but then I eventually just laugh it off as its something so minor to get worked up over, and quite frankly I just don't have the energy right now to bother. So to that random DRG, relax. It wasn't intentional, and marking people with a "Target to Ignore" is distracting, don't do that. Thankfully someone else removed the marker over me like a quarter of the way through so I could actually focus a bit more, granted I still died due to people running around after getting marked with the chasing aoe so that was fun. But otherwise, raid was fine, just wanted to share this since I thought it was pretty funny after I sat and thought about it lmao

To the DRK returner I had in leveling roulette, please I hope we never meet again.

It's not "research" to know the basics of how your class works, how your skills work, etc. Including when you said to the party it's been 2 years since you last played. So you'd think to look at your skill bar/skill list before jumping into content with randoms. Getting so defensive and rude over a neutrally-toned "I'd suggest look over the changes to your toolkit before jumping into content" isn't toxic. Telling me to shush over it is not okay.

I was nice about it. I'm 90% certain others would not have been. Probably would have kicked you from the duty, or been nastier to you in party chat about using your skills, your cds, and learning "proper aggro" management.

Next time, just kick someone like that. No amount of uwus or s will make them digest what you say any easier; they don't want to try, they don't care, and they think everyone should just bend around them - as if doing zero amount of reading or research on the bare basics of your class is somehow excusable, just because you're returning to the game.

Maybe if they get kicked enough times, it might wake them up once they can't actually progress with real players. Then they'll either be forced to learn, or resign themselves to abusing NPCs instead.

Today I learned that Fray is still an egotistical maniac and will attack anything he sets his eyes on, even in alliance raids, whenever a drk summons him for Living Shadow.

I got to experience this today when we had 2 drks summon theirs during the add phases of both Engels and 9S and each one would attack another alliance's add. Forced group hugs anyone?

Man, what is it with single-pulling tanks lately? They've been in most of the dungeons I've run over the last week or so. Like, I know they're out there, but they're usually not this prevalent. C'mon y'all, if I wanted to be bored, I'd play EVE Online.

I picked m2 before we started when I saw we were three melee, so yes I already called it ( and third melee was last to join, I think it's fair to call spots when party is filled ).

*Third melee ( R2 ) wipes three times in the first pull, on the third he wipes us because it's on the second Intemp and he died before on the numbers*

We wipe a second time to the numbers because someone went to the wrong spot with the shackles.

People are so weirdly overly sensitive sometimes all I did was point out that no one except me had picked positions yet ( WHICH WAS TRUE ).
It's so weird.

Also I dunno what it is with these same people always calling people '' bro '' and having the worst patience and temperment themselves.
Not some kind of a huge toxicity moment but still a very odd start to the day.

I dunno wtf it is with some people and their attitude, same with the third melee.
I cut some stuff out too while he was wiping but he was getting mad at the healers who did nothing wrong he was just taking insta kills to the face.

Edit: Rofl second group just now, the MT didn't read chat and got upset at the OT after we wiped because they did it wrong and went off on a rant about how OT didn't communicate.
The OT did and copied what they had said in chat.
Did MT admit that they were wrong?

No they ragequit rofl.


Oh and now our tank in P1S tried to sneak into P2S without having cleared it before for our weekly P1-4S group so we had to wait 20-30 min for tank and then replace him afterwards because he refused to respond if he had cleared it before.
Absolutely cursed lol why is it so hard to just get a clean P1-4S group.

I'm having a thing with spread markers lately. Seems every time, regardless of the boss, when there's a spread mechanic, everyone runs directly towards me wherever I go. This happened twice last night in Vanaspati on an alt-job I'm leveling.

What makes this particular spread mechanic a bit more troublesome than most is the fact that it also has a knockback and a positional. If I'm on a job that has Arm's Length I just use that to prevent getting knocked back into the wrong row. But even then, there's always someone that runs or gets knocked back into me. And I die.

So, I just want to say, SPREAD, SPREAD, SPREAD. Also spread. That's what that marker means. You spread out from each other. If you see me running away, don't follow me. Run in the opposite direction, please.
