I think a large part of the problem is that there are a significant number of people who:
A) Lie about their feelings. ("I'm hard! I don't feel sad or anxious. Sticks and stones! Grow thicker skin!")
B) Have a mental illness blocking them from experiencing feelings (psychopathy, sociopathy)
C) Have a mental illness blocking them from empathy and/or sympathy (sociopathy)
D) Are brought into the world and subsequently raised by parents who suffer from A, B and/or C, above.
People feel things. And don't tell me the internet isn't "real communication," because there actually was a time when written communication was all we had for non-verbal. It had weight for thousands of years, and words and written communication still have weight now. Written letters carry no emotion? Books carry no emotion?
Knowing this, we should be kinder to others. Barring that kindness, though, rules have to be put in place to guard against those who are part of the mess of A, B, C and D, above.

I see the faerie finally snapped again.
Somewhat hilarious it happened to be in a thread made by a guy constantly whinging about 'us vs. them' crap, be it 'hardcores vs. casuals' or 'NA vs. EU' or whatever. Even more hilarious when that guy advocates for people to be crappy to each other in PvP. Sorry, thought PvP fell under your 'hardcore' designation, champ?
So I can't figure if OP if posting ironically or attempting to sound like a strawman of certain groups. His views are too unhinged to be legit and reeks of previous troll style posts that have actually been missing for a bit.
op is a isolationist in video games
I understand taking actions against obnoxious behaviour, like spamming good game or marking team members you don't like. However, grouping together a little bit of banter with emotes (or using a fireworks) after defeating an opponent is silly.
To me the problem there is getting tilted for something so small and then acting like a karen about it.
I wonder what will be next.
