    I think we are on a good road, SE cant ignor this and similar threads for much longer. WE need to push the complaints atleast until the next LL and see what Yoshi will say about this. If we make noise, loud and annoying, sombody will come and aks whats up.

    We may not agree on how, but we agree that something needs to change for the healers. SO lets make noise and keep this on the first page.

    I dunno... from what I've seen of this ultimate so far it seems more of the "dodge or die" mentality than actually "heal." You can't really heal when the mechanics just one shot someone if they get hit >.>; Am I just watching the wrong people? =p

    Apart from living liquid continuing his favourite tactics from when he was breaking statics, none of the previous ultimates really had much healing outside of the occasional spike such as J waves and ifrit

    Friendly if bitter reminder that Ucob has been done with no healers, uwu and tea with just one, and uwu only requires the limit break with the rest of the fight not requiring them really if the team is prepped

    It's about right. One shot mechanics have always been the laziest design possible. Oh, you're not perfect? Dead.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    You see, content at the start of an expansion is always undertuned so as many players as possible can clear. If you want something harder and more engaging to heal, you might want to check the next Ultimate! Which will be identical to the previous one

    I can see those types of mechanics spicing things up, if sprinkled around certain points in a fight. Things like using Tank LB3 to "parry" an ultimate attack, or having to perform an active cutscene thingy with a snappy satisfying action. Hell, I will go as far as to say that ultimates having a higher density of "do this thing correctly or die" is rather entertaining and satisfying to pull off (that is when server ticks don't screw you over). But at the same time, irrecoverable mistakes don't make for interesting healing paradigms. The whole idenity of the role as pushed by the designers is to "fix" mistakes. The support and DPS aspects have been simplified tremendously, so what we have left is "fixing mistakes" and yet, precisely the Ultimate fights are littered with unfixable mistake situations.

    I’m a bit on the fence about them. The other side of the coin are AOEs that don’t punish you for standing in them, and we’ve seen in the past that tanks and melee DPS will just eat them to maintain uptime. They started making them give damage downs instead of vulnerability stacks in ShB because they didn’t like how players would just ignore them.

    On the other hand, I dislike one-shots purely because of the way this game snapshots. It’s terribly inconsistent and server-tick reliant. Some casts snapshot ridiculously early into the cast bar—others ridiculously late. And higher pings just exacerbate the situation.



    I haven’t been able to watch any of the new Ultimate prog since I’ve been at work all day and am only now taking my lunch. Going in tonight, so I guess I’ll see how it is. I’ve heard first phase is easier than Living Liquid, which was an actually decent healer check.

    thats why WoW has better raiding content than FFXIV IMO
