Hell, even the crafting gear used to be open for all jobs. I'm not even sure why they added the dye-able versions of crafter gear only to keep it locked to that specific job anyway.
At least make replicas of those, too?

If the system is too far gone already, stick to one distribution method instead of having it all over the place :c
I agree that just having the items start off as glammable by all would be ideal, I just don’t know if that’s possible with the system they have in place. Otherwise idk why they’d bother making replica sets. Like the old gear was glammable by all but it was also able to be equipped by all. Idk if their gear system enables them to toggle one and not the other.

It is kind of funny how we aren't allowed/able to mix armorpieces for the sake of glamour only, but NPC's are allowed to do so.

The Doom/Child of the Everlasting Dark from the Rak'tika Greatwood is a good example.

The Child NPC is literally a Dragoon (also exists as BLM) who wears a skirt that only casters/healers can wear and the chestpiece is for MNK/SAM exclusive.

    Pic related.

I think they should do it and allow us to use other pieces of gear from other jobs (only armor)

what they can do is make an option in the dresser where you tik a box saying you're ok with turning the piece of gear you want to use on another job into a level 1 glamour item and cannot revert it back, that way you wont be able to use that piece as actual gear but just glamour.

What with threads getting bumped willy-nilly left and right, I figured I'd do it for the sake of a cause I 100% support, consequences be damned...!

Gonna necro this because the longer I play this game the more it eats at me how much I hate healer glamour options and just want the freedom to wear what I want.

I don't think restrictions on job armor should be removed. Afterall, they are JOB specific and having them apply to other jobs would confused the heck out of people. Like why is this person in paladin gear when he's a healer????

Instead, it would be cool to be able to apply multiple glamours to a specific piece of armor so that when you change job from paladin to warrior, the glamor automatically change to reflect the job specific armor.

EDIT: I read the post wrong.

I think it would be fine to leave artifact gear as job-specific since those do more directly link to that specific job's aesthetic and lore more closely than your standard "of fending," "of striking," "of healing," etc. gear that in some cases can't even be distinguished between which one actually goes to what role at a glance. It would drastically open up a ton of freedom and flexibility with glamours for every player.

Dam it such a Japanese answer. And so blankly rude and misleading. No one ask to remove it in weapons or even job specific gear. But the more general ones. I now can run naked or in full plate armor as any job. So how it's different?

You know, I'm not entirely what the lore is for Glamouring. It's possible they included some light explanation of how it works in-universe but I don't recall if they did specifically. Based on the naming of it, though, that would imply that you're actually still wearing whatever gear you're glamouring and instead making that gear magically appear as though you're wearing something else (or nothing at all). In which case, wouldn't that even further justify the freedom to remove role restrictions from glamour.

So your black mage actually is wearing robes. They just cast a spell on their robes to look like armor.

Finally a worthwhile suggestion, all the gear that isn't AF gear shouldn't be locked.. bring back the good old Disciples of War or Magic.
