If you have played moba games before BLM would fall under a support job, you set up enemy for the team pushing crystal. You not gonna solo any job in a one on one fight, unless they have no healing set to hotbar! Also as it has low hp and defence most jobs will bully you. after many many games as blm I have gotten surviving down but a good NIN or RDM will delete you. To make up for lack of dmg its has super fast LB charge that can make all the difference if you use it right. Use callouts in chat, once in a while you will get good team that takes advantage.

Other classes have up-front burst, but BLM builds up to it. Try to use Superflare with Burst (Swiftcasted) or Foul. Yeah, it's not great burst damage, but in exchange BLM does pretty good damage over time or it can spam CC against opponents who already Purified. The LB also provides a ridiculous amount of AoE damage, if people are grouped up and you have time to go through all the stacks.

People who tell you to use Flare over Blizzard, obviously dont know the Job themselves.

BLM's biggest strengh is his AoE effects. You can, if you play it correctly, stunlock a entire enemy team with low effort.
- Use aether manipulation as often as you can, even if you dont select a target for swiftcast. Doing so allows you to even shake off pursuers with the help of paradox.
- sometimes, you dont need the full 3 stacks in order to be effective as BLM on the freeze. Freezing interrupts all activities and is a great tool to even catch Players offguard with quick interrupts.
- use Fire only when you know youre getting the kill OR you know you get away with hardcasting 3 times
- Teleporting to People and then using a instant Burst is your Bread and Butter

Despite his weaknesses on hardcasting, BLM is amazing on chasing down low HP enemies, but RDM and BRD will ruin your day if they look in your direction. It is also adviseable, that you play as "cowardly" as possible. BLM is very bad in ANY 1vs1 Scenario, the most you can do, is
buy time with freeze and hope someone comes to help you.

Thats it from my part. BLM is imo, the hardest Road to master, but it can turn a Game arround easily if your Team actually protects you.

That's how I play BLM. I rarely play with fire
so I can keep folks frozen and sleeping.
It's pretty fun and can turn the tides well.

At this point, might have too cause it feels like i'm failing my team at diamond rank. A bard just keeps me locked down with silence and then i'm focused or LoS'd nonstop(The fire stage is a NIGHTMARE for black mage) unless I come in the thick of things and when that happens I'm focused again. Gah is frustrating.

Your highest lockdown burst combo is Paradox -> Ice Superflare -> Foul/ AM + Burst.
27000 Damage with Burst, 31000 with Foul.

If you do a late Ice Superflare, you can both Foul and Burst during the 3 second CC, allowing you to do 43000 if they don't heal after Paradox.
