If people had immunity to CC, the games would take longer than 5 minutes because no one would die. CC is what secures the kills. Most people that complain about CC just need to know when to purify and when to guard better.

In a game less susceptible to the server eating your inputs I would agree, but zerg rushing isn't as easy to counter as that. I dealt and worked with the server ping a lot previously in pve content, but in PVP it really shows its problems in a lot of encounters.
People would still die, you'd just have to actually mitigate also and it would be based on skill of the class vs just literally spamming cc every 15s and then going unga dunga on people.
The Purify buff is meant to solve the problem it's actually instigating by its design. You're supposed to be able to stop an INITIAL onslaught of cc, and/or be able to punish/escape a single target encounter. What we're at right now is a purify that half the time doesn't appear to work on things like Silence despite saying it does, I don't know if I've ever seen the "buff" for immunity on my bar, and a Guard that depending on input could proc after you're already almost dead.
Everyone having purify but it giving 5s of immunity but being on the same-ish cooldown just means that the fights will go fast but be actual fights, instead of spending half my time going "Welp I got stunned once this is over." This is also an issue because some classes have a ton of CC and some just have....literally none. So you can't even properly punish in the exchange. CC isn't tied to specific roles or balanced around specific fighting styles, so that too is a moot point.
Then if take into account some classes like WAR and WHM LB (which is up often and instant) have AOE equivalents when some don't even have single targets that's not skill securing you a kill, that's just having the bigger stick at all times. In order to have balanced encounters you can't just say "Fights would take longer if we couldn't stun lock them" we should ask how the stunlock became so easy to be meta and why every class doesn't have more cc and/or at least a single use of CC in their kit.
The question is always If > Then
If the only thing keeping matches short is stunlocking/bad purify timing and server ping, then why is that being encouraged? CC should "secure" a kill not be its primary method of doing so imo. If other classes don't have that (and some don't) then it becomes laughably unbalanced.
Hardly, I've been around since 1.0 and pvp'd since, we had immunity to it in the past, they removed it for this release... idiotic idea
Most of the damn problem is that they screwed ranking from the get go, wither you get a win isn't based on skill, it's based on luck of the draw, simply all it is... As already stated, There is NO Match Making System based on experience and stats. It's based on how many are in each rank and how many matches can they populate...
Get stuck with a bunch of no skill pve players that don't know how to focus a target even when it's marked
All pve players come here just to get loot whilst actual PVP players have to make up for their lack of quality.
Not to mention people joining same time to try get into teams for coordination.
Piss poor game development and planning. GG

Respect someone that truly understands it. Really tired of this pvp crap it's pushing me closer and closer each day to unsubscribing. Couldn't give a damn if PVE is it's main content and amazing story and record breaking music lists... only reason i ever die is due to being spammed on by 2-3 people with fricken stuns. and they only able to do that cause no one is focusing. In a game less susceptible to the server eating your inputs I would agree, but zerg rushing isn't as easy to counter as that. A complete combination of crap. Never had any disrespect in any FF game until 6.1

CC was fun for a day or two, but way too much bullshit going on to enjoy it. Between everyone having access to stuns, silence, binds, terror, etc... and only a single button to deal with it (that suffers incredibly from server delay mind you) and people hacking in ranked on top of it? Hard pass. They will most likely end up rewarding the hackers by giving them the top placing items as well. I played enough to get the armor and yeeted myself out of something I was looking so forward to enjoying.

Was always excited for new PVP content, Thought damn, maybe this season i'll go at it properly... put in the hours to be proud of something
in the past i'd grind my way up get to silver or gold and then just go back to casual play, other stuff...
Now i'm fricken restricted cause they dragged some rules out their rear end and thought wow, this smells like a recipe for PVP. HOw about we also mingle the ranks together so no one gets a fair fight.... it'll be glorious.
Welcome to the 1.0 of PVP. How long you gonna take to fix it this time Yoshida!?

The matchmaking works just like in Feast where it takes the players who have been longest in queue and puts them into the match if their ranks allow itThat leads to some interesting matches sometimes
