Taking a break doesnt work when this has been going on and getting worse over 6 years. That moves into unsub territorySome people really need to take a step back and take a break. I just did for 2 months. Works wonders. Sounds like the devs pissed on your cerials and slapped the dog.
I am not a big fan of the shallowness of the combat as well but holy shit. Way to blow things out of proportions. I tried other MMOs and XIV is by far the best for me personally (Guild Wars 2 being the only exception in a few aspects like the combat). Feedback is very important so I'll give it but this doom and gloom here.. 10 years or so and counting. lol

Unsubbing is the only language a company understands. That is the problem. So, if you are not happy then unsub. If enough people start unsubbing then they will change the course.
Cheers

I know I posted about this seven years ago and people have been talking about this for years even before me.
At this point I think many people are warming to the idea of instanced housing. As Yoshi P said in the NoClip documentary about FFXIV 1.0 that it could not be saved it was built in a way it can be patched but never fixed. The entire housing system needs to be abolished and there needs to be a new system. They can keep the wards system as a legacy but instanced housing is a must. The forums and the player base have been vocal about this ever since the lottery failure.

The bold underline part of that, is the biggest issue this game has, and it is why they should honestly be doing 1 of 2 things. The game should either end with EW which it clearly is not. The next expansion should not come out in 2 years, and they should rebuild the entire engine from the ground up cause it is sorely limiting what they can do with the game.FFXIV 1.0 that it could not be saved it was built in a way it can be patched but never fixed. But as far as housing goes I am all for what he said.

I've said this for a while, there's probably a very good split of people who want to participate in housing and don't care about a neighborhood setting, especially if they don't want a small house. I haven't posted about it much on the forums, but I witnessed several friends dealing with this problem. It's been an issue forever, and as bad as placard clicking was, changing it now is extremely unfair to everyone who had to participate in that, as well as giving all the wards to FCs and shell FCs. They didn't even attempt to find a middle ground for the people who had to deal with that, or ease into it, like allowing relocation; they just instantly crapped every ward to FCS and made all wards lottery despite saying they were going to go half and half on a lot of this stuff.I know I posted about this seven years ago and people have been talking about this for years even before me.

Instanced housing is a must. An instanced homestead with an exterior, like an isolated plot with a size of your choosing is ideal. That's all they need to do. People can visit it, just like an apartment; it can be displayed in a housing board, traveled to via an ID, allowing owners to access control people who are trouble away from their homes, etc. They need to do it, it's become extremely clear that this system isn't sustainable and that players do not want the current layout of the wards, and giving 2/3rds of the houses to FCs is nuts. The smalls aren't even selling out on populated servers, but the anger is still all there. People want to pay for them, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to.
I genuinely at this point don't care if they do away with wards and just instantly transfer everyones homes to an instance. If people can visit it, it literally does not matter as long as everyone has access to it. It is not worth the grief of people having to deal with RMT, house-resellers and just flat out no access to the sizes they want to decorate.

The best things about the game include the music, art style, enemy design, fashion design, user interface, crafting system, minigames.
Things that could improve are graphics/tech (DX12 version, Xbox version, better lighting, better anti-aliasing options); content that is less scripted and formulaic; job personalisation; housing that meets players' expectations; some alternatives to gearing / progression model especially early in a patch series we miss that 'relic' type grind to work on; willingness to diverge from existing norms and patterns.
