LOTRO also had a system where you paid monthly to keep your plot. I'm not even against it. The game needs a few gil sinks.. heck for all I care make it for FC owned buildings only. It'd help weed out some of those one person FCs if they didn't want to put in the work for it.

Ironically, it's the one-person FCs who would care the least. Most of these one-man FCs are basically just alt accounts so players can abuse the submarines. Seeing as you can only get 4 per FC and send out 4 voyages at a time, every house they can get and every FC they can buy is more subs for more farming and ultimately, this is where these players get their gil from. If someone is so deep into it that they have a bunch of houses, you'd best believe they basically have an unlimited supply of gil.
