12 hours after losing the lottery, I'm still salty, I had never experienced this on any game in 20 years, congratulations to whoever thought this system would be a good idea.

the funny thing is the system is kind of fine, they just went out of their way to make it as unpleasant as possible. Also worth noting the evolution of it too

it started as free company housing only. With the private rooms so everyone had a shared guild headquarters with their own private space
Turned out almost no one wanted it and very few plots were purchased

After many many requests for it to be open to private buyers they did and everything disappeared almost instantly, the big merchants ended up buying entire wards.
So they added more wards and the weird bizarro-world sub divisions and the rich just kept buying up all the houses

then they added more wards put in the account limits and set it up so only FC and relocations could buy to try and open up houses throughout the wards for new buyers and it worked.
Then they added more and people were prepared with Solo character FC's and teleport hacks to bind up the houses before the proper cycle of relocation and mass openings could occur

Then tons of people complained about wanting a private space without being in an FC
Then they added apartments and everyone was like "not good enough!" even though it's exactly the same as FC rooms and even has the vendors

so then they added a lottery system to try and weed out the cheaters and completely borked it

they will probably add more wards soon if they can to make up for said borking

and next will probably be islands which look to me to be a near direct copy of wildstar instanced housing that no one gave a crap about outside utility since it's not really part of the world

If the concept of the islands they develop is similar to that of wildstar that would be great but when I look at the info on it, I can't help but think of the fief on wow which is just the worst thing possible.

Islands are going to be the biggest let down since the last let down with housing. Just a stab in the dark, it will some sort of minigame/sidecontent slightly more involved then the pixie beast quests.

To be fair, this is a half-truth. Nobody cared in Wildstar because Wildstar was marketed as some combat focused high-end player game with a massive focus on mechanics rather than anything else. FFXIV, I think we can all find undeniable, is incredibly social and leaning on interacting with through our words, movements, or houses. Hell, that's the idea this neighborhood contrivance is founded upon. Instanced housing that can be visited will certainly be more successful than in Wildstar, if at least to push ERPers out of sight.

But that won't be Island Sanctuaries. Because the dev team is allergic to doing things correctly as of late.

another thing tht makes my stomach churn with bile is not only the lack of player housing while 75% of all wards are exclusive to FCs, no, what makes my bile boil is the seasonal events that even give you neat and cool housing items one cant use when you dont own a house :U. feels like more salt on the scraped open ankle that got kicked beforehand..and topped with a drop of lemon juice.
