Yep, I've cancelled mine. After checking the lottery and seeing that I lost, I logged off for a bit to collect my thoughts. I'm not mad that I lost. Disappointed? Of course. But I was also expecting to lose, and the blow was heavily softened by me already having a house anyway. But after seeing how it was apparently bugged and seeing how they've been handling a lot of other things lately, I have decided to bow out for now. My subscription expires next month. I still have things to do, and I'd rather not waste what time I've got left on my current subscription, but I am a man of my word. If I say I'm going to unsubscribe I am going to. This isn't me trying to bluff them and hoping they don't call it. I am just...disappointed in the dev team I once held to a higher standard. This isn't just about housing for me, but I do consider the housing situation as the thing that pushed me over the edge.

Sorry to hear that - I've always enjoyed reading your posts. You've often been a voice of reason in some crazy threads. But I get it.

As for everyone that got hit with this housing nonsense, I'm just sorry you all got caught up in it. I had several friends who lost their bid, but it was to actual other players. But this lottery is utterly broken and there is no excuse for it. How does the coding get this fubar'd and no one did a thorough QR of it??? This is just stupid. They need to implement real instanced housing option where people can choose and pay for the size house they want and have an instanced yard or something too. Everyone who wants a house should be able to get one.

I agree if people are really disliking the game as a whole and the situation as it stands unsubbing is the most easy way to express your disapproval to the devs along with feedback on why on the forum. As for me, I never let my sub drop for long since I bought my first large house 2 years ago. I do stop paying for the extra retainers when I take a longer break though. The irony of my keeping a sub up for the house and it still works out cheaper than a lot of other online games.

Having had my private large for 2 years also just made me realise how much an empty large is like finding a unicorn. Who knows how many players are like me sitting on their property for literal years.

Completely agree with OP. Sadly I didn't win my bid so I remain homeless. And that's unfortunate that an entire feature of the game remains inaccessible to players that pay a sub while others that pay a sub get to indulge. One of the main things in leaving WoW after getting fed up with all the nonsense coming from Blizz and coming to FF14 that I was looking forward to was finally getting to mess around in player housing in an otherwise loved MMO. Thing is, I don't have the brand loyalty to FF14 that I had to WoW so I'm not willing to be subjected to the the same level of nonsense from SE as I was from Blizz (and even Blizz finally pushed me past my breaking point). Add to this the Hrothgar debacle and I'm starting to think maybe FF14 really isn't for me which is a shame since I've enjoyed the game since starting it almost a year ago. I'm going to take a few days away from the game and decide if I want to keep on this FF14 journey or not in light of some of the decisions the devs have made recently. Anyone unhappy with recent events I'd recommend doing the same.

Op does not seem to be the only one voting with their wallet. It may just be my perception of things but ever since EW launched I have literally seen half the amount of people on, and it isn't just the lack of afkers in limsa. Every day I am 14 in queue sometimes 43 on the weekend. Sure many are enjoying pvp as well so the wolves den is really hopping, but I am feeling many people already dipped when EW queue savage happened and refused to trust another company that is showing similar signs to past time investment to many players. I may also be leaving if I honestly do not get the house I waited, paid, and won, but lost to imaginary number 0. I will not wait longer, bend over, put my name in again, and wait until something else messes up. Daddy square has to take me out to dinner first before the next pounding, because right now I am paying to constantly be in an abusive relationship with a billion dollar corporation.
