I think it's an issue of culture. SE might think that conformity is paramount and hence whatever is good for the JP servers is good for everyone. This does not take into account differences in server populations or differences in attitudes and interests of the people making up those different populations. This inability to adapt might eventually take its toll on SE. Maybe not now but over time the company might find itself suffering for it. In the end, those companies that can adapt are the companies that will survive.

As someone who has a small packed to the brim of things my wife and I have, I was looking forward to possibly getting a medium but we've seen how well all this went. I'm not even that mad, just frustrated. I'm mad for friends of mine who were excited that they and their 6 FC friends were the ONLY people to bid on SMALLS in Ishguard and then the draw was zero and no one got the plot. I feel horrid for them

I can only speak as someone who actually lost to a player and so did a friend of mine, both of us on a small/medium lot. I did notice too from our stats and what others were saying who didn't get the "0" bug was that the lottery favoured last entries as a whole. This is just based on the stats being shared from a small pool so I am not sure if anyone else can vouch since this is taking his FC and both our experiences with it.

tldr; Majority of the time, whoever put in their last entry on the last day got a higher chance at the lot than those who applied day one. I'd have to go back and double check this but probably more difficult now as some have been claimed.

It is frustrating to see that the system, which was supposed to be a little better, be slightly leaning more towards the later entries. I do hope for instance housing, but I hope this is something that will be considered for future consideration. Even just a few more wards open to private buyers or more houses.

The problem appears to be worse than this.

Basically, the devs chose the worst way to implement housing. Outright. It's exceptionally resource intensive, buggy, crashy, and has no scaling potential. Compare this to something like Wildstar where everyone can get a personal house, and you can start to understand that FFXIV's codebase basically cannot allow for the level of scaling FFXIV's servers actually needs. This isn't the only section of the game that has bad scaling, the inventory system is notorious for it. The glamour chest is one of the worst examples of its type in any game, especially games from around the same period.

Essentially, the problem is housing needs to be deleted outright and redone from scratch. And anything short of this solution is going to involve keeping the poor-scaling system we have right now. Considering it's been nearly a decade without wanting to fix this specific solution's myriad problems, it's not going to change at this point.

In fact, I'm reasonably certain it can't change at this point without upsetting every single person who already owns a house, and that's assuming the housing module is a straight up drop in system with the game having no dependencies on housing itself. I'd be all for it and I already own a house, just to future proof the game. But not many people are as open minded about it.

But without pressure to completely redo the system and make it better, nothing will be changed.

I'm not sure that any amount of pressure would have a positive effect. As I said in my previous post, I think this is a deeply ingrained cultural issue. The developers and company appear to believe in conformity and this means they will be stubbornly resistant to any kind of change. In a sense, this is a somewhat milder version of the debacle that was 1.0. Sooner or later, this company starts to fossilize in terms of its attitudes and it takes a disaster like 1.0 to shake things loose again.

I've been trying to get a med or large for years. Literally years, since Stormblood housing came out. Been playing since April 2015, have had a small since 2017 or 2018... and now SE decided to only allow 6 wards for personals so there's no chance in hell to get an upgrade on Balmung. And with pure rng and no pity system or anything there will still be people like me that can't get anything for years more
Like, how many thousands of dollars on game time and it's still impossible to get a larger plot to decorate? So now there are a bunch of empty plots in the FC wards, and people that want personal larger plots will have to compete with dozens or likely hundreds of other people for the few mediums that vacated.

I'm in a similar boat, but been around since 2.0 started with a minor break in like 3.1 - Had a small FC and secured a small personal in Shadowbringers. Was hoping to surprise my wife with a medium as she's mentioned we don't have room for the decorations she wanted to do and now, well, here we are
