I've canceled my subscription over housing. Not just because of the bad lotto system

The bigger issue is that how you "win" a house shouldn't even matter. The bigger issue is that a JP server with 4000 active players gets the same number of houses as Mateus and Balmung which have EIGHT TIMES the active number of players.

Every single house on Mateus personal wards had 15+ bids on them, that I saw, out of the 30 plots I checked. So the demand for housing is 15x higher than the supply we were given.

It is absurd that Square Enix's "Highest Earning Game of All Time" can't figure out how the heck to scale the number of wards to the server size.
Most NA worlds should have 32 wards at least. The exceptionally highly active worlds should have even more, like Mateus and Balmung probably need 48. JP worlds would be fine with 16.

I know they've been confronted with this in the past and they just make excuses how it's "hard coded" instead of making it work like a capable developer would be able to do.

I knew this new system would be bad, and I'm just so tired of the developer and YoshiP not caring and not treating it with the urgency it needs for a fix.
They left a system in place where you'd have ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE spam clicking on plots for TWENTY HOURS losing sleep for YEARS. Then they finally replace it with a new system that is just as bad but in different ways - like not being able to live near friends or EB - instead of addressing the actual issue which is larger worlds have a higher demand for housing than smaller ones.
They clearly don't care because JP doesn't care much about housing, and the population per world is smaller so anyone who wants one can get one.

So why should I continue to subscribe when they ignore our problems for years, and continue to ignore them, unless they're also problems on JP?

Also a lot of people are blaming a single programmer, but this is an institutional problem with the developer and management. It's bad decisions and bad testing.

I know there are gaming QA jobs that pay $65k-$85k per year. SE pays <$25k. Or in this case it looks like they paid $0 since they didn't even test it.

Does this person actually think his two servers are the only ones that housing is full on?

Or they did test it but something unplanned for came up.
FFXIV QA is better than most MMORPGS, its not like they are AGS.
Its just really bad timing to have it now

If you care about housing, this debacle is a perfectly reasonable excuse to kill your sub. People always say that companies only care about money, and the only way to make them listen is to use your wallet/pocketbook.

This thread seems to be gaining slightly more traction so I will repost what I said in another thread here.

Yep, I've cancelled mine. After checking the lottery and seeing that I lost, I logged off for a bit to collect my thoughts. I'm not mad that I lost. Disappointed? Of course. But I was also expecting to lose, and the blow was heavily softened by me already having a house anyway. But after seeing how it was apparently bugged and seeing how they've been handling a lot of other things lately, I have decided to bow out for now. My subscription expires next month. I still have things to do, and I'd rather not waste what time I've got left on my current subscription, but I am a man of my word. If I say I'm going to unsubscribe I am going to. This isn't me trying to bluff them and hoping they don't call it. I am just...disappointed in the dev team I once held to a higher standard. This isn't just about housing for me, but I do consider the housing situation as the thing that pushed me over the edge.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.
