As a big proponent of the Lottery, I would have to disagree with this. EVERYONE should be treated equally. That includes those who already have a house and are looking to upgrade, as well as the first time buyers and those people for whom a FCFS system would be impossible to participate in.

But.... everyone isn't treated equally. Solo players are getting absolutely screwed with being isolated to the last 1/4 of the wards

If they move plot the one they left is then available for someone else so.. no? Nobody is losing out become someone moved house.

Except if you are a solo player and someone relocates from one of the FC wards then you are still just as left out as you already are and by the time they reassess what wards to free up for Private Housing those vacant lots will already be taken by another FC

I think it's fine for them to enter the lottery for relocation. It's the only way for people to upgrade from a smaller house to a larger one now and they are under the same limitations as others. If they win, their old plot becomes available for purchase.

That has nothing to do with the Lottery system, though. It has EVERYTHING to do with SE's decision to favor FCs.

So... exclusion is a horrible idea... so you are saying I shouldn't open up my small by the Goblet pools for someone else, because I want a medium regardless of where it is? Maybe that plot is someone's dream plot? The lottery will already make it a little more fair to everyone, but denying the ability to relocate is a terrible idea...

It's gonna be different now that the wards are split. If someone relocates their private home right now that is in a newly designated FC ward- then that'll be a "lost" plot- i.e.- not available for another private purchase.

For now. People seem to mistakenly believe this is how it's always going to be. SE has said they'll be monitoring it and adjust as necessary.

Well, there won't be any salt from me. I am expecting not to win a plot. As I had predicted earlier, the odds of me winning a plot were well against me and a recent check of the bids placed on the plot I fancy, proves that to be the case. That still does not deter me from supporting the Lottery system though. It's still the only truly fair way to handle the available plots. The only way to prevent a salt explosion from others, is to do a major revamp of the housing system with an emphasis on either more housing, bigger apartments, or both.
