It is rather conspicuous that the inner provinces are completely ignored entirely, almost as if the writers didn't want to confront the idea that some people might not want to be "liberated" and actually like the benefits of being apart of the empire. We knew as such since ARR when Rhitahtyn talked about how his homeland was an awful dump until the empire annexed it and improved it.

It is also rather conspicuous that no one comes after the WoL's head. The WoL must be the most visible antagonist to the citizens of Garlemald, a figure who has slain hundreds of imperial soldiers, defeated legatus, destroyed legions, torn several provinces away from the empire, and is the champion of the two alliances that stand against the empire. In an empire with tens of millions of citizens, there should be at least a few dozen people who would come after the WoL, trying to avenge their family or friends who were slain by the WoL, or trying to avenge the humiliation of the empire, or simply trying to claim glory by striking down the empire's greatest enemy. The Ishgardians had a grudge against the dragons in the HW patches and Yanxians had a grudge against Yotsuyu in the Stormblood patches, but no Garleans have a grudge against the WoL?
