I would expect that at the higher ranks, the issue is getting there, and the idea you have to have more callout buttons and targeting buttons on your bar than actual combat abilities is a dumpsterfire of a design.
This is my issue as well. Can't play with my wife or my close friends. Why would I participate in a group mode that won't let me participate with my friends? Just seems pointless.
The developers are repeating the same mistakes with PVP. Less skills are good, amount of people doesn’t matter. The main problem has always been the skill cooldown time. The cool down time for skills are too fast. Look at MOBA games. They have a main attack and they have 3 or more special skills. If the developers can slow down the special abilities in the games modes, then the matches wouldn’t look like it was played at 2x the speed settings.
That’s my main problem with these PVP matches. It’s like I’m playing a piano with a really fast song. I end up mashing buttons and have no idea what I’m doing. It’s not fun. As a tank trying to cast shield on party as the party sprints in quick jittering motion makes me give up even trying to cast the darkest night on fellow players.
We have MOBA game modes. I like MOBA games but I don’t like FF14 style because everyone just spams buttons and it’s not fun when the cool downs are instant.
The current skill for 6.1 PVP are great just slow down them down. I’m not a fan of spamming attacks and hoping for the best. The personal limit break attacks a timed perfectly. I wish the other skills were so too.
Play SMN then lol. 15sec cd, 15sec cd, 30 sec cd, 15 sec recharge, 15 sec recharge and...worthless ruin to spam as filler. The developers are repeating the same mistakes with PVP. It's solo queue only because premades have too much advantage since the strongest players band together, and we don't have enough pvp population for separate premade and solo mode queues after the initial hype dies down. Think this is only way to do it. Not enforcing role composition has been great for queues too.
As for the game rules I think they did a pretty good job, for ffxiv pvp. There's some inherent limitations of the engine which stops pvp ever being great in this game. They did pretty good with the restrictions they have to work with. Easy to understand objectives to strategize around somewhat overcomes the flaws of frustrating tab-target battles with slow server ticks and CC moves that get you killed by effectively unplugging your controller.
This is a self-defeating argument. You'd have more players if the game let people play together. Lots of people like casual group pvp as a fun activity with their friends or their SO. Not a lot of people like solo pvp with no social component at all. So by having ONLY solo pvp with no social component... you ensure you have a small playerbase. So if your reason for justifying no non-solo is that there aren't enough players to justify it... then the solution is to have non-solo pvp because that will draw a lot more players into pvp. It's solo queue only because premades have too much advantage since the strongest players band together, and we don't have enough pvp population for separate premade and solo mode queues after the initial hype dies down. Not being able to play this with friends has absolutely killed my enthusiasm for the mode.
With Feast gone, what option do we have for tight knit PvP? Frontlines are a joke and I don't enjoy the 1v1v1 aspect. More than anything, it's ridiculous that an MMO won't let me play with friends.
I know pre-mades are annoying to fight, I've got 15+ years in WoW Battlegrounds to confirm that, but the opposite extreme now is I literally cannot enjoy this mode as much as I would if playing with friends and family. And that massively discourages me from getting too invested because I can't share any fun or excitement from my matches with other people, only 4 total strangers I'll never see again.
Who knows they probly around have a Feast style mode of this made just haven’t told anyone ,that way they can release it later and say look we listened to your feed back and added what you wanted, then proceed to be praised for how great they listen , smh.
Solo queue is killing me. Most games are won or lost within the first minute because one team had obviously better/worse players. Not even talking about the roles here, just player skill. As a competitive person this is trash. I want to be rewarded for carrying/playing my best, not lose 'cos the rest of the team is "less competent".
I like it! People liked the feast. I hated it. Different strokes for different folks.
"It's fast"
Yes. It was designed to be fast. Working as intended.
"We can't play with friends"
Blame the win traders/cheaters/aggressive/toxic/etc. They didn't remove the ability to play with friends just cause. They are addressing a main issue the feast had that drove so many away from that content.
"It's going to be dead content"
Idk. I am absolutely hooked and never before have I had queues popping off so fast. Time will tell when the dust settles.
"Classes are unbalance. No role Restrictions"
Role restrictions - Don't need them. Jobs need some balancing for sure - but you don't need a tank and healer. Please read your tool tips. Thank you.
