This. Even if it's a joke you could be in danger due to snowflakes ruling the online world

It is hard to tell what is being reported when people say "I report you" or you report someone yourself, and what the GM's actually do. I get why they handle this so secretive, you don't want the people who face consequences to go after the one who reported them etc. I know I've offered plenty of help and talk a lot in chat, make jokes, whatever, and if I ever got reported for it, apparently the GM's decided it was okay what I did because I never heard anything from them.
However, this argumentation in this thread makes my skin scrawl, talking about people being "offended over everything" and "snowflakes" etc. Which is usually the general response to actual concerns or people just asking to be treated like a person and not like chewing gum. Reminds me of the "me too" thing where a lot of dudes were like "I am afraid to talk to a woman now" or "this was just flirting". And when you ask them for details it turned out that what they considered flirting was actually just being annoyingly persistent, pushy or even molesting, and not taking a "no, thanks" for an answer, so very much not flirting or treating people equally. But of course branding everything as snowflake talk makes the life much easier when you don't have to reconsider your own behaviour. (Doesn't surprise me that this forum has a bit of a reputation...) And a big part of the ToS isn't saying much more than "be nice".
Yes of course we have our "You don't pay my sub!" people and "oh my god how dare you telling me I should switch on tank stance" people in this game, but that doesn't mean that everyone would behave that way if you give them advice. If you want to make sure, offer help as "hey, if you like I can explain the mechanics" or when someone says "hi, first time tanking" you can say "feel free to ask if you have any questions", so they know they have the option. Some take it, some don't, but it's not against the ToS and makes people more open for conversation in general. Of course there are cultural differences that may come into play, I heard the tone varies a lot depending on the datacenter. I can only speak from my experiences from the Light DC. But I suppose these cultural differences are fairly well known to the people who live in this culture, so...

It is important how to ask, talk to or give advice to players in a group like duty finder. If you do it in a friendly way there wont be any thing against ToS. For example if a player stay behind and the rest of the group has to wait i usually write in the chat, maybe a disconnect.
Often then the player how stays back write like sorry this or that just happend and he/she could not write back. I write then np and nobody is mad about, easy going. Or give advice in a friendly way if you think this or that spell could be more use full.
But also often there is just no time for me to write because i am healing or tanking and just happy to have all players topped up or all mobs around my Loonies.

Cultural differences are just buzz wording - people are rude and dont care. This is a behavior nowhere would be acceptable. For that we need more mods, GM and formost interaction with the community. As a game company you need to work for a good community. A well groomed community dont drop from the sky. The ToS is written as if everybody is under susspicion and nobody innoccent. Add the lack of communication and interactions- there you go : A weird blob made of silent and passive aggressive player that abuse every system you will give them. FF14 community is NOT nice or friendly it is silent and passive agressiv.
Yeah it's a bit restrictive, and it's why I've had to start adding "in Minecraft" at the end of my sentences to keep some folk from getting mad and running to a GM for being told how to play right.
Yes, cultural differences, values, languages and how they act on those are just buzzwords. There is a specific word for people who think like this. It begins with an R and ends in an ist. The French, Germans, English, Scots, Finnish, Romanians, Polish, Norwegians, Dutch, Swedes etc. They all act the same LMAO.Cultural differences are just buzz wording - people are rude and dont care. "This is why we can't have nice things."

Point 9.
Cheers
It's not really strict ingame, the forums is a different matter tho.
I dunno tho maybe it's a data center problem, on Light at least I don't feel like I run into bad people and people generally talk quite a lot and are nice.
There's two servers on Light that I think I noticeably see more frequently shitty people from but it's not like FPS or WoW levels of shitty and a lot of it is also non-verbal toxicity like joining P4S in PF just to get in and then immediately leave so they can skip 1-3.
But also just general albeit minor shittiness that is verbal tends to be from two specific servers on Light at a higher rate.
It's still incredibly rare tho.

You are trolling and took what i said out of context to provoke. Cultural diffrence is used in the debate about the ToS and SE behavior regarding the community as a excuse to not discuss and disredgard arguments altogether. What you are refering to is a politcal theme i would not touch even with a 100 foot pole in a forum but what ever floats your boat, i guess.Yes, cultural differences, values, languages and how they act on those are just buzzwords. My point is and was: The ToS should be a baseline to make social interactions possibel in a controlled matter not punishing like crazy or even cater to "trigger happy" people. Also we need interactions with the community but besides Yoshida's we dont get any and thats not enough.
