Thing is, this is not a dedicated PvP game. This is not even masquerading as a PvP game- it's just got PvP tacked on much like Chocobo Racing or that Fishing Cruise. Something to do when you can't think of something ELSE to do.

They put some resources into it because hey, some people like PvP, but certainly not enough of the population to dedicate the time to implementing a ladder system. If it did, they would. They chose the "lazy" option of not allowing groups because it was a solution that could be done in the amount of time they budgeted for this.

At the end of the day, if your friends uninstalled the entire game that was entirely hinged on whether a new PvP mode was going to be good or not, I mean, there are better PvP games to play.

I would love to see the actual statistics of how many people actually play PvP for fun, and not for leveling or getting certain glamours. I can't imagine it's that significant, or again they would put more into it.

The argument between pre-mades and solo queue is as old as instanced PvP and it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Pre-mades are a lot of fun, I loved playing with my friends when PvP was my main source of group play. Unfortunately if the players in the pre-made don't have a strong sense of sportsmanship, a well coordinated team tends to fall prey to the temptation to ROFLstomp the other team made of randoms. I've experienced this in all games I've played, it's an inherent element of PvP since it's competition mode and rewards are based on winning. Case in point, trapping the other team at their base in Warsong Gulch and smashing them as soon as they rez to farm kills or just be general trolls. "It's not disallowed, so it must means X company thinks it's ok!". Win trading is also a whole lot easier with pre-made teams. The only solution to those problems is to make queues individual only and take the hit from upsetting people wanting to do pre-made play.

there's literally zero good reasons why the casual playlist shouldn't allow groups. reminds me of the time Overwatch decided to prevent Hero stacking in the Quick Play mode, absolutely nonsensical and anti-fun.

dumb decisions like these is why pvp is generally dead in FFXIV and why they have to constantly tie tons of unique rewards just to get ppl to even try it.

If they add a casual 5vs5 premades, then I have no objections. Otherwise, where premades would go against matchmaked randoms, no.

its a casual playlist, that shouldn't matter. if you want to win, go play ranked, where victory actually matters and there's no premades.

Agreed generally, but you don't want to push out solo casual queuers since every time they queue they're just steamrolled. Then people who don't realize it's because they're playing against premades will think that is a "normal" experience in PvP and just not play.

    I think that:

    Casual - Solo
    Casual - Premade (1-5 players)
    Ranked - Solo

would be good enough. Casual premade would allow solo players and smaller groups to fill in parties <5 players. That lets people play together while maintaining the "integrity" of the ranked and solo casual groups.

Winning on Casual grants a bigger payout in XP for your PvP and Series Rank (700 vs 900 XP). So it matters if you put in some effort of doing your best in it.
This won't go well when you have to fight premades that run certain setups and become unkillable. And there are certain setups that really are difficult

So it's best to have the premades fight exclusively their own. Nothing wrong to get put on equal sized teams, right?

Or maybe that was not your intention in first place, and instead just wanting to slap non-premades around and having a good time with your friends at the expense of the others, who might have been unlucky to be matched against your group, for quick XP and looking good on the scorecards to flex on it.

Because, lets face it, quite some people get their fuzzy feelings by owning people in PvP.

Premades can be a lot of fun. I have no objection at all if there's a separate queue for pre-mades however let it reward exactly the same rewards as the other queues. This way it greatly limits various motivations for abuse, and encourages those people who want to queue for the experience.
