I can now confirm... yes, this is truly how it is in the actual update.
Aero II is a direct upgrade to Dia.
Dia is a downgrade from Aero II.
And this is in the official patch.
It's not a typo. It's a huge glaring oversight....

Even as someone who mains Scholar, this whole change has me like: "What. The Hell." I was so happy for White Mages when they finally got the DPS neutral lilies, but it was just one step forward after taking two steps back...
No two charges of Assize? No reverting the Thin Air change? It is rather fitting how the departure from the job's druidic origins makes it objectively weaker, both mechanically and thematically. God, what I would give to have the devs make their AoE Earthquake and change Holy to a special nuke used after a fully charged Misery just like in previous games.
there's really no need for reverting the thin air change. before the lily change it would have been very much welcome but now it would just be overkill, and frankly having more lilys and them actually being dps neutral is worth more than thin air working 10 seconds instead of 1 cast.Even as someone who mains Scholar, this whole change has me like: "What. 2 stacks for assize would still be very welcome though.
on topic though this is obviously just an oversight. they lowered the mana costs to combat mana issues in low level content and than changed the dot time to normalize the dots across the board while not thinking too much about the actual potencys (or they would have lowered aero I/II if for no other reason than for now staying longer.) so yea, assuming they don't actively want to buff whitemage (i.e. buff dia) they will probably just nerf aero I/II potency slightly and say "sorry, got stronger than we intendet", the big question is mostly when.
I'm not surprised in the slightest, but sadly it does prove that even class changes are tested by Sylphie the intern.
This is exactly why I said before that even if they want their classes and content to be casual friendly, they should have skilled players who know the game and role inside out do QA testing first, then hand it to the casual team to see how they get on. It's just common sense to use qualified experts to QA test. Any moderately competent WHM main would have spotted this immediately.

Just. . . the sheer level of incompetence. . .
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

I mean... I still remember when EW came out and Phoenix was a downgrade from Bahamut as well... so it's at least consistent![]()
My justifiable headcanon is that we lost Aero II and learned Dia cause all we got in Shadowbringers is light. Being surrounded by light, infected by light, and subsumed by light. Then we got a downgrade to Dia. The only justifiable headcanon from a lore perspective.
So Aero IV when?
I was still pretty tolerant up until now...
But now, as a healer main, I must say that I begin to feel really unsulted !
I mean, if the healer role is such a thorn in the side of these game designers, why do they insist on keeping the trinity to begin with ??
