I don't see what the problem is, if you don't want to play solo, don't play solo, nothing wrong with giving people more options though.

I think the solo thing is good, as long there is plenty of content for actual groups. Why even make an MMORPG if its not for actual "Human" groups, and tout it as such, right ?
Anyways, I try and look at the positives, in my case it gives me a chance to try a new job and learn my skills without the hassle of social boo hoos (kicking and such). Therefore when I feel comfortable in my new job I will be ready to try it with a "real" group for example. After all, I dont remember paying a monthly subscription to play FFVII and FFXIV "IS" an MMORPG right ? I'm here to make friends and have a ton a funRock On!!!
Edit: I haven't tried the Trust System on my Pally yet![]()

To be able to choose between group or solo play is the mark of a high quality game.

I'm afraid that might be some of my "refugee" cousins. When I first started playing FF14 a few months ago right before the so called mass exodus (i saw the writing on the wall lol), I came to the FF14 forums and found a breath of fresh air. What an incredible community. . I thoughtBut since then the atmosphere seems different. In game I have made many friends and already had a ton a fun and look forward to a whole lot more
. As for my "refugee cousins" if you dont like it here take it back to SW and Org.

I have so many friends I call family on my server that every day is a pleasure to login. It is night and day from "Barrens chat" in there. Unfortunately the forums seem to be the same vitriol no matter what game is involved.I'm afraid that might be some of my "refugee" cousins. You got that right

There's a difference between being solo friendly and basically being a single player game that just has other people running around.
I'd argue FFXIV is becoming very close to the latter.

An MMO promoting solo play is the opposite of good. This game is going to end up like WoW where a good chunk of the playerbase will become anti social mutes because they don't need anyone for anything. We will see an influx of players across all roles that can barely play their jobs, only pull two mobs at a time and can't function in endgame content when they have to join up with other players. I've never understood the concept of wanting to play an online game but not wanting any social interaction whatsoever. The logic is just lost on me. Other than oh muh god I need to jump on the bandwagon game of the month so I can look cool and relevant.
Sorry if that comes across as toxic but you wouldn't go to an RTS game or shooter and whine for the devs too make it turn based because your reaction times are too slow would you? It's like going to a football match and complaining to the club that you don't like football and asking them to convert to a rugby team instead. Again something you wouldn't do. You'd acknowledge that you tried the genre and it just isn't for you.

People being "social" only because they NEED other people is not really a good thing to me.
I'd rather people be social for the sake of being social, which is something a portion of the playerbase seems to actively discourage with their rush mentality.
If you are so bothered by someone pulling only one pack of mobs at a time to make a condescending comment about it you are probably one of those people that is in a rush to begin with
Its also ridiculous to think that the people that "cant function in endgame content" are the people that would use duty support while leveling. The MSQ stuff was never going to teach you that anyway.

This is the real issue with the game becoming more and more focused on solo play, if new players are never incentivized/""""forced"""" to interact with other people, why would they? Why do people want the community of this game to burn down in flames so much? Do you really want the only servers where you can get fun and interesting interactions with other people to be the few servers known for RP like in wow? Not to mention the people playing solo aren't going to stick around for any extended period of time, and regardless of what your god savior (creepy parasocial daddy) yoshi-p says, MMOs NEED to keep people subscribed in order to survive. At least the community is (for now at least) keeping certain social aspects unique to MMOs alive with their RP nightclubs or prostitution lounges or whatever. Guess we'll see how long that lasts. An MMO promoting solo play is the opposite of good.
