It didn't have to be this way. Unfortunately, Square made a bad decision that excludes most SEA players from Materia by having an unnecessarily awful ping.
They chose NTT, a Japanese telco, for their connectivity to the DC in Sydney. Why? Probably because NTT are big in Japan, but in Australia? They are third-rate.
The problem is, no-one except Australian domestic ISPs interconnect with NTT in Sydney. Most south-east asian ISPs reach NTT in the US, at their San Jose peering. Consequently, your traffic crosses the Pacific twice for a >300ms ping. Many SEA players currently get 110-150ms to the JP servers, so a world transfer seems super detrimental.
It's possible to have 90ms from Jakarta to Sydney, but Square would have to switch transit provider to one of the few Australian tier 1 ISPs that have great regional peering, e.g. by transporting their SEA traffic via one of the Perth fibre landings.
Even more embarrassing, NTT are so far down the pecking order in Australia that even some local ISPs don't peer with them, and you can live in Sydney but have a 320ms ping to Materia. For Australian players, that's easy to fix, just churn to a different access provider. For internationals, the only option is, roll the dice and spend extra on a gaming VPN that may improve matters.
I don't know if Square realise any of this, or care, but it strangled OCE from birth because many SEA players don't want to migrate to a much worse ping.

Eh, not exactly. The log in queue is to prevent everyone from logging in at the same time and straining the server. Its more like 50 people trying to enter a single door to an empty building. Not really a good indication of population.

huh? ehh? no it's like 2000 people trying to get in that same door not 50 as you suggest. Meaning, I will repeat ...... Ravana-is-not-dead bots or no bots I play there and it is populated from 9am to 10pm with lots of non bots I play with. I can see with my own eyes that Ravana isn't dead which is irrefutable evidence.

90% of the bots are now gone, seems the support staff took notice to all the reports finally.huh? ehh? no it's like 2000 people trying to get in that same door not 50 as you suggest. When the player base of the server are sitting in main cities and not actually playing the game, it does look populated.
In reality, the actual content of the game (majority of casual content such as duty finder) has queues upto 10 times longer than other datacenters.
Tiger is also correct, the Login queue is only there to stutter players logins to stop the login servers crashing, it is not an accurate representation of the player base.
The last few days have been great, with players returning from other games to prepare for 6.1, queues have only been 10-20 minutes instead of 40 minutes in the evenings.
One thing I've noticed as a real thing is that our support tickets seem to be dealt with extremely well. I could do a ticket on the NA servers and it would be ignored, but every ticket I've done on our servers has been actioned bar one.
Our fellowship finder is even nicely clean of spam, because they step in so fast.

Did you miss the ~100 FC's on the lodestone page that were level 25 FC Leaders with rank 6 FC's all named "adasdfg" and similar, all second lieutenant with Twin Adder.I saw those pictures and they were all level 41 bots and no level 41 bots can buy a house because it is impossible to be a 2lt by now and they have to run around shooting stuff to get 2 level of hunting logs so wow no. The only reason to have a bot is to buy a house right? ok then they pose no threat atm, but we are watching them and will report them along with everyone else I report to.
They were ranked 42-150ish on the lodestones weekly FC contributions
It seems the support team has taken care of the farming bots, but the housing ones are still there.
Housing isn't opened yet. Support can't do anything if the players have done nothing wrong.
It's not against the TOS to be named "adasdfg"
Wait until they get a house, note them, watch for a sale, report.
