Honestly, as much as I don't really like homogenization, this is probably the best idea. Change crit chance raid buffs into crit damage raid buffs, and give every dps class some kind of auto-crit to align with the 2-minute window.

Dunno how easy it would be, but they could also try converting any crit chance over 100% into direct damage. There's plenty of other game systems that have mechanics in play like this where excess crit chance equates to extra damage, and to my knowledge FFXIV doesn't follow that trend. Auto-crits and crit chance buffs would actually synergise and I don't think a single person would have a complaint about it. If it turned out to be too OP, there's no reason they couldn't simply reduce potencies after the fact.
