The old system favored people who could no-life the game and click for hours on end, but the new system does not.
The forums/Reddit/Discord/etc. are disproportionately frequented by people who no-life the game.
I bought cash shop housing in Rift, I bought cash shop housing in EQ2, I bought cash shop housing in SWTOR. I'd buy an official mogstation house in FFXIV too. Doesn't even need to be in a ward. I'd love a sky island, or a little wooden hut by a waterfall in La Noscea that I can only get to from an Aetheryte.
Instead of 2 or 3 fantasias or a new mount... I think quite a number of people would.

Will be great indeed when a house opens up and you can place your bid and see that 600 others did the same![]()
The Lottery does not fix housing. It only makes it fair to all. To fix housing, you would need to ramp up the availability to the point where everyone can have a house. So, I'm really trying to understand exactly what is gonna happen once they implement the up and coming housing lottery. Before I go on, most people probably know that getting a house is already a lottery, you camp a plot and click the placard with a bunch of other people, of whom most are running a clicking script. Thing is, currently you are in a lottery with 20-40 people every time, but from what I hear the lottery system will make many more players than that involved, meaning your already low chances dip to super low. I'm wracking my brain trying to understand how this is better?
The community have actually put a lot of effort into making the awful click placard system work, the aforementioned script, housing alert servers, charts displaying peak chance times on a case to case basis, but now its apparently going to be torn down to be replaced with even lower chances lottery, a downright degradation of what we currently have. I don't want this system to suck, I want it to be good and help people who have amassed a lot of money to one day get a good home, like me. But all I see just makes me lose hope...
We'll see a reduction (not elimination) of RMT in housing as RMT needs to fight the lottery RNG.
We'll see more players trying to get a house than have been trying to get one under the current system.
Up to the individual player on whether this fixes the system. Personally, I say no.
A bot-infested system, or a system that basically encourages or gives advantage to those using bots will destroy housing far more than a lottery system will.
lol Legitly in the process of buying one irl its far easier than in the game lol
ppl bs it and make sound and seem harder than it really is lol for w/e reason maybe to controll ppl with rentals or w/e nonsense but its not that complex or hard irl a bit annoying yes but not hard
You must have family money or live in an area where it is inexpensive then.lol Legitly in the process of buying one irl its far easier than in the game lol

Not going to destroy housing but simply make them harder to get because now everyone will bid on a house who wouldn't have bothered before. I like FCFS never had a probably getting a house with it and in a prime location.
I can understand after the log in queues with the xpac release why they're chosen to not go FCFS.
