WoW used to be a great MMO. It no longer is imo. It has so many problems with balance, borrowed power systems, pay to win (looking at world first tier splits, cost of legendaries, boosts for ratings for pvp and io scores, loot RNG, the great vault of disappointment, no tier drops, the list goes on. Please don’t ever use WoW as a guide for what FFXIV should embody ever. If you don’t like some things FFXIV is doing that’s fine. Post some ideas about what you want instead. Using WoW as any sort of guide for FFXIV imo is a terrible idea.

To be fair, people do do this with regards to content design and job design.

WoW being mismanaged in recent years hardly means that lessons cannot be learned or inspiration cannot be taken from the game's golden era. To say nothing of the existence of other MMO's that FFXIV can look at for inspiration. GW2 recently launched a new expansion, ESO has been steadily expanding the amount of content it offers, Lost Ark recently launched in the West and I'm sure there's some other options that I'm overlooking.

All healers in ffxiv are worse then any healer in wow which is hilarious, and can't really comment of tanks.

It honestly feels like if you want a valid raiding mmo the two options are bad or worse.
Eh smn is about like warlock, you spam 1 to 2 buttons and the occasional OGCD.
Ranged DPS isn't terrible.... it isn't good either though. Dancers kinda cool? I like MCH but it hurts my fingys it's not as interesting as it was before though, Bards a mess...

The old just quit the game comment. Some one has to say it anytime there is criticism. Shut ya mouth and go somewhere adults are talking.

Hard to say if this came from the board of directors or just a bad decision on Yoshi P's part with out internal knowledge. But this will never bring in 10 times the player count. Most people don't play MMOs not because they don't want to play with others, but because they don't want to pay a sub or they don't like the game play. Making the game easier, making it soloable, is still the same game play that some people just don't like and it keeps a subscription model some people don't want to pay. It's one of those decisions that feels like it was made by some one that lacks knowledge on the product and consumers.

People tend to forget this game has already died once and Yoshi P and the dev team learned from the failure of 1.0 and can learn from the successes and failures of other games to improve this one. Its the point where you don't think you have anything left to learn that you begin to fail.

The games golden era, meaning WotlK? Or Legion? What from WoW specifically do people want that ffxiv doesn’t offer now from back then? If it’s mythic+ dungeons, Ffxiv criterion dungeons are being added. If it’s pvp, they revamped that. If it’s early WoW solo questing, trusts are doing that. Currently, WoW is not in a good state. If you look at the past WoW what is different from then than FFXIV now? I can’t even fathom why anyone would want emulate WoWs current gameplay in ffxiv. WoWs classes have such simple rotations. People don’t even do them manually, they are macroed. You look at ffxiv forums, most people are upset about gender locked clothing and character customization. WoW has there forums filled with imbalance, 20-30% dps losses from not having tier, being denied groups because they play the wrong spec. Like I said before, please don’t use WoW content ideas in this game.

I don't really agree at all that WoW is more simple nowadays, if anything it's the exact opposite way around and the main complaint is that there's too many systems and Blizzard spend too much time catering to the 1% of top players ( sometimes even less than 1% ).
I didn't like a lot of the ability prunes back in WoW either ( especially on Warlock ).
But the classes did become more complex and the game used to be way WAY easier and simple while now if I was ever to jump back into WoW again I feel like I'd have absolutely zero idea wtf is going on.

I enjoy having lots of abilities in the style of FFXI. Realistically, there is no comfortable way to map excesses of those buttons onto a keyboard, let alone a controller which I used for a significant amount of time during Heavensward/Stormblood.

I prefer having smaller amounts of meaningful, upgraded abilities in this game for the sake of less needless complications, though it is my preference to receive abilities far earlier than the rate that the game currently gives them out.

The 20 spinning plates style gameplay of Heavensward however is never coming back, thank goodness. Too many people look back on that era as the glory days when in my experience the only job that felt playable at the time was Black Mage.
