Making loud threads about this is actually going to make more people flee, make the ques worse, and keep people from migrating over there.

What you needed to do was pretend that things were FINE, and encourage everybody to come over, tell them the ping is so much better, and you can't belive how well it runs.

And after months and months of keeping up the scam, just as the next expansion came out, things really WOULD have been good there.

Now it's just going to be a place where botfarmers raise the bots because they can get an exp bonus due to the servers needing more players.

it's a little frustrating knowing the amount of time and effort it takes to set up a physical data centre -- let alone during a chip shortage -- and now the people on there are angry there's nobody to play with but i'd like to remind people that there was a not insignificant push from JP players who hated sharing their servers with OCE which is the actual reason why this happened.

they were straight-up celebrating when it happened. so before you go off blaming the people on there just try to remember that they weren't the only ones asking for this and it would've happened either way.

I think it's fairly well known that the OCE datacentre isn't for OCE players, it's to get rid of them for the Japanese.

Well I mean no one is pointing a gun at players forcing them to move to Oceania servers or else?

At this point, we can likely conclude that Oceania servers are a failed experiment and could be due for shut down in the future of player population keeps plummetting, especially when players are allowed to transfer off Materia once the 90 days lock on period is up.

Queues are absolutely horrendous here when I had tank/heal queues exceeding 10 minutes during Oceania prime time.

Can't imagine many people wanting to stay on these dead servers except for those who just want to play house decorators.

I think we might see a small number of very vocal 90 EW finished players leave, but I think the bulk of players are not old transferred characters, and they will stay and keep growing slowly.

However, if SE did close down the OCE datacentre then the JP players are going to see an even bigger influx of Aussie/NZ/Thai/Pacific players into their DC as all those many new alts - with NA mains - move into JP.

We cant conclude anything of the sort. We are busy and happy, the almost zero ping gameplay is a revelation..now we know what we have been missing out on for years. I also seem to remember NA kicking , screaming and holding their breath till they turned blue when WOW OCE servers were announced.

Go ahead and transfer off if you wish, we have plenty more on the way.

OCE is growing slowly and will continue to do so, 6.1 will see a major influx. The servers arent being closed, and they arent being handed to NA.

No. I was expecting them to address the low population with the idea to open cross region with NA at least. Not utter radio silence. Everyone knew OCE was going to be extremely low pop.
