I stayed in this game through the bullshit period just because I was promised that my character is not going to get deleted.
If they ever even imply that something like this is going to happen now (or ever), its bye bye forever FFXIV and hello Guildwars II or Diablo II.

Dont ask for stupid things please.

There is not need of character obligatory erase. Player can easily erase them, buy a new one, wait to 2.0 or even left one or two classes without training, and the use then when 2.0 come.

Besides, the main story of 2.0 will be probably a continuation of this one and the gran companies quests so we won´t miss any important of the main story...probably.

I am 12 levels from having all DoW jobs at 50, take this into account! Although it is unfair to wipe away the countless hours I've dumped into my character (and, mind you, I'm not especially keen on being PL'd, which is why I haven't already hit 50 on all jobs; I like to play the job and know familiarize myself with each action's strengths and weaknesses, timing, recast, effectiveness, etc), what I believe the OP is alluding to as a looming threat to the future success of this game, which, unfortunately, is multi-dimensional.

The first dimension I can think of, arguably the most important one, is retaining player loyalty. This rings especially true for this game, which has been a train-wreck in perpetual salvage-mode since its release.

The second dimension I can think of is, what I believe the OP to have considered, is the 'new' player. As a linkshell leader, this is something that I have had looming in my thoughts for quite some time. Most of my linkshell mates are well above 50% in all jobs, a handful quite near 100%. Leveling my last job, MRD, (currently @ 38) has proven to be quite the lonesome road; no one is L38 these days. If they are, they zoom past in a weekend's time with PL assistance. I've refrained from that, in hopes of experiencing the thrill of actually leveling the way the game is intended. My concern is that with so many players near 100%, there will be less incentive on new players to level appropriately, instead opting to be PL'd as fast as possible to 'run with the big boys.'

Again - I completely disagree of simply resetting everyone's job back to L1 is not a viable solution, however, the OP brings a valid concern in my book. I personally am very curious as to how SE can manage to pacify players like ourselves, Areeya, who've spent the blood and tears into getting to where we're at, while still creating a social dynamic that allows new players to interact with veteran players. I feel if this isn't address correctly, it could very well spell demise for the game.
thank you, i know i can delete my guy and start over and have the satisfaction myself and i think they did mention a level sync in the future.

"i believe you could have a crafting job in your party and leach xp does no one remember seeing that"
You believe is what you believe not everyone
No one remembers getting exp from getting their DoL/H class PLed is because it NEVER happened
Then I am wrong I just remember people in LS complaining but it could have been the physical level which is absoluty worthless but at the time no one knew it was going away.

Lvl Sync and Cap increase would fix all these issues anyway.

The solution does not have to be a destructive one.

Agreed I like this better, best of both worlds. I did forget that they did mention level sync it has just been quiet as of late.

It feels like they put so much nice work into the job quests yet its just a pushover and an anima pinch at rank 50.
Some people might not realize this yet, but new players are not having an easy time to lvl, getting jobs, doing low level instanced raids, Ifrit, etc.... Even killing NMs like Daddy Long Legs... Yesterday I saw a party of 4 lvl 35 newbies wiping to Daddy, decided not to help them, even when I could just kill the NM in seconds, I wanted them to enjoy the content that was given to them.

Imagine newbies trying to get AF pieces. They've never been to Mor Dhona, have never won DH, would have to enter Zahark lvl 40, which would be a certain death if you go alone or duo.

Regarding the Tslseur's comments, this is Final Fantasy, not Rift, there are no Clerics but White Mages. Having 3 combined JOBs without retrictions would be overpowered. Right now, we can cross-class 2 classes, and have the full skill of our own class, i find it good enough for me (I dislike the BLM's cross-classes tho), we just have to be creative.
