    Is there a way to un-level a job? Can I just remove summoner?
    At this point I'm just going to discard my grimoire and delete the gearset. All my caster gear is melded for BLM, anyways.
    It's so frustrating, I don't feel like I'm being heard. How else can I give feedback?

    I really believe that carbuncle is still around because of some weird coding and that he has to be summoned in order for the rest of the summons to work, because I cannot think of any other reason to have him around.

    and why not give Radiant Aegis the same treatment? take it off carbuncle (cause it lasts so long?)
    .. eitherway Smn could still use some fast fixes..(till they rework Smn completely again..)
    ..
    And the "dps" issue still isnt solved (its just too ffing low)

    Honestly, I think that smn dps is ok: It's a """utility""" class. Smn has "ress","heal", buff so smn has everything, yeah... but it's all a mess. Hardcasted ress, for a dps class, is useless, just wipe. Smn has Physick that scales in mind and not in int lol (yeah, I laugh to keep from crying) and Endkindle a situational heal that he can instant casted (wheeew) but only in 20 sec in phoenix window every 2 minutes, yeah cool. A buff that can be ghosted (next patch will fix it, so nice). Smn also has a ridiculously low amount of hp but its ok it has a shield that it can't always use, so nice. Oh and yeah, it hasn't ogcds but it has a ridiculous amount of useless instant spells because they are used from standstill but the only castable ones do not allow slidecasting so there is a need to use swiftcast, losing the instant ress. So smn dps it's ok if it were a useful utility class, but it's a mess.

    The dps could have been worse, but it needs to be better, the summoner doesn't need a huge buff, but mostly a rework, the design of the job is good, but the gameplay is monotonous and little thought by the developers,
    they can keep the large summons, but they must review the functioning of these one, because the poor gameplay design of the summoner has repercussions on the hl fights.

    Already the fact that the summons are gcds with a delay on animation is really not a good choice, carbuncle is absolutely useless it's still a bad choice at this stage just remove it, phoenix has a situational regen it's still a bad choice, even if it means giving a regen spell, you might as well leave the choice to the player to use it when he wishes, especially if it's to tax dps on a useless spell which overheals 75% of the time.


    The visual of the job is good, but the summoner should have a rework on the gameplay for 7.0, at the moment it is a mixture of bad decision and spell animation that blinds you.

    Some what late to this thread so I hope I'm not repeating points that have previously been made...However, I personally really enjoy the SMN rework. The whole toolkit has been altered to bring summons to the front and center, which is the whole point of a Summoner. Thematically it's structurally sound and I like how certain skills in the toolkit change based on what summon you are attuned to.

    However with all that said I still think SMN is not quite where it needs to be...Maybe it never can be because there are a number of different SMN main sub groups who wish to see the job go in different directions. But for me personally, I want to see all of the SMN toolkit come directly from summons. By that I mean, I want to see every skill and ability be executed by the summon itself and not the summoner. I want to feel like it's the summons that are truly fighting for me via the commands I give it...whether that be carbuncles, egi or full demi's...I feel SMN needs to remain a pet based class. I even miss having my egi auto-attack because at least it gave the feeling of being able to fight for itself and for you...where as right now it's nothing more than decoration which I don't like.

    I’m someone who thinks the rework is in the right direction. I think they could add another layer to add the complexity that people want.

    Procs are the way to go. I said this earlier, but maybe you occasionally get “upgraded gems” that summon ramuh, leviathan, and shiva. The rotations for these summons would be slightly more complex with higher DPS potential.

    frankly if the designers decided to decently elaborate the utility part of the smn, I don't think the DPS should be increased, just because it is not a selfish DPS. but right now it sucks both in dps and in utility.

    Procs are one way, but I think if they want to continue with this "feel" they should ditch the current cycle of cooldown gated fossilized-dreadwyrm-trance and look at other ways to gain summons. Aetherflow and Aethertrail could be repurposed into a loop of summon smaller summons to build gauge to summon a Demi (maybe with a cooldown to bypass the buildup for an opener and 2min burst). If they made no changes to Energy Drain/just brought back Aetherflow it would retain the cooldown problem, but it opens up the possibility for more summons and even different costs (i.e. a smaller summon for your opener and 2mins that uses all 2/3 Aetherflow to instantly fill nuAethertrail, a summon that adds a 2min buff to the SMN, summons with 90-120s cooldowns). The current cycle of 60s CDs into 3 gems is extremely restrictive with no player input beyond how much SPS you gear for.

    Id smn became the new utility mage I wouldn't even complain as long it's fun and the utility is useful. The issue right now is it's neither a good DPS nor a utility caster. RDM can do everything a smn can do but so so much better and has some complexity to its kit. That's why I say the caster role balance is off this expac because you have 3 casters but only two out of the three of them are useful and good at what they do...
