    Considering that most jobs still have other buttons beside their combo, this would still be better than your average healer rotation ;_;

Honestly, before EW I myself believed that merging combo buttons would help evolving jobs, SE certainly doesn't have the urge to do so... neither merging combo nor evolving job design. Since EW launch, I am pretty much against it. SE would just f* it up.

At the very least, non-combo'ed combo should be greyed out (similar to MNK). I am sick of people in dungeons who only press their combo finisher which deals less damage than just spamming your combo starter.

SE (or YoshiP in this case) rambles about button bloat and damage fluctuation, their result is turning SAM from a decent raider job into a full casual job. Their next step would probably taking its charge and disengage action off the Kenki gauge, and making their Medare skills guarateed direct hit, too. Welcome to Warrior town!

ShB and EW, as well as the recent LL, made it clear that SE has no interest in creating interessting job designs anymore; even worse, lowering the skill floor and ceiling for existing jobs. DRK has become the "busy warrior/oGCD-warrior/warrior with magic shenanigans (etc)" (call it however you want), EW SMN is a joke of job re-design, healers in general are bland af and uninspired, and SAM will soon follow that trend. There is no flavor, no room for improvement, and I would even go as far as saying that duty design (dungeons, raids, even ultimates) will not be enough to mask over that fact.

I love this game, I really do, and that's why I voice my criticism. But SE seriously makes it very hard for me to support this game any further.

I feel the same way, and I hate it

well tbh this only affects my view of these relevant design teams overseeing this awful new direction. I'll always support these absolute kickass story/quest designers, the VAs, art team, etc. etc.
Just a shame bc I was also excited to sink my teeth into this game's raiding content. Especially after finishing msq, and no spoilers, but my god that message of "overcoming existential nihilism by constantly pushing yourself to exceed your limits", only to be met with "a couple mouthbreathers played your job and didn't understand half of its toolkit, so we're removing the toolkit lol"

Yeah but again they made FFXIV 1.0 for you people and it was a failure and not profitable. You can always go play FFXI it was made for you people but like most games made for you people its a ghost town. However, there is one game that is successful that is made for you people, but it might require real money and its EVE Online.

Difficulty is subjective. One thing you think is "easy" can be difficult for others or better yet....unnecessary. Which is EXACTLY how I felt with Monk positionals.... they were unnecessary to make the job good. And I still enjoy the job...and MANY other people in my FC have picked it up DUE to the changes they made for 6.0 on monk.

Things that I actually find difficult:

    Taxes
    Interacting with the public
    Refinancing...anything
Calling a customer service phone line
    Elections
    Interacting with the public
Family during the Holidays as I have 6 Christmas' due to my wife's parents being divorced.
    Interacting with the public
    Sekiro

    etc, etc, etc,

Things that shouldn't be inherently difficult due to poor design:

    Video Games
    Taxes
Calling a customer service phone line

Not everything has to be made exactly for you. Not everything needs to be HARD because that's how some people define how good they are at the game.

I have 90 hours on Elden Ring and some of my friends shun me when I use summons or summon my brother into a difficult boss. I....don't.....care....

Removing unnecessary skills that were designed a long time ago when the game had a less focused direction? Well that's just good design, I would rather have a Ferrari then a Ford Taurus. But if the Ford Taurus did the job...then I pick the path of least resistance for me....the player. Game design 101.

True, but complexity is not subjective. There is a large portion of the player base that enjoys complexity over difficulty because it keeps their brain engaged and focused. To give an example of the difference between difficulty and complexity:

Imagine a boss attack that can only attack left and right.
A difficult version of this boss would have a combo string that only telegraphs its attacks 0.5 seconds before the attack actually hits and if it hits you it instantly kills you regardless of mitigation. This attack happens 5+ times in a row in quick succession and the left/right is random each time so you can not just memorize the pattern.
A complex version of this boss would have a combo string that telegraphs portions of its attack string ahead of time (~3 seconds) while simultaneously doing a separate attack (a ground aoe) that you have to avoid at the same time that is much more RNG than the combo string, but again you are given ample time (~2-3 seconds) to adjust for this, and your punishment for getting hit is a damage down and/or vulnerability.

Most people can get used to pattern recognition of fights and realize 'hey, I have to move left soon, oh now there is an Aoe on the floor, I should move up or down' and then adjust to that, making the later version not really all that difficult. On the flip side having to adjust for something in less than a second can be difficult for some people simply due to reaction time, or maybe they were stuck in an attack animation or needed to finish a cast. Whatever the case may be there is a noticeable difference between 'difficulty' and 'complexity'. Most players that aren't a fan of the direction they are taking some jobs (including myself) just want something that is more complex that we can engage our brains with rather than something that is just really difficult that we have to hyper focus on.
