At least one thing will be funny out of all this, even if it's for approximately 3 seconds before it goes back to being sad again:
Someone out there will make a Hrothgar with an earless hairstyle and call himself "Van Gogh".
You know it'll happen.

I don't even play or particularly like Hrothgar and I'm still offended. Jesus... I'm sorry you guys got shafted like this.

the FFXIV_EN twitter posted about 6.1 this morning. If you feel inspired, comment on the post with your thoughts about the treatment of Hrothgar hairs.
I don't even play hrothgar but oh holy crap these are bad. Unpaid modders can enable every hat and hairstyle in the game on viera and hrothgar and they look absolutely perfect. Yeah, ears clip. Who cares? Everything in this game clips. Stand next to a wall and your arm will disappear. The devs should just copy paste the hat/hair mod and put that in game.
I gotta say that I am super disappointed with these, sure we can wait but after all of these years for waiting patiently that we get more hairstyles and this is what we get right now. I would rather they just rather delay it again than releasing half ass and sloppy work that we ended up getting. Please do something about it SE! Just because we are the smallest playerbase in your game doesn't mean that we are getting treated this way!

Speakers Network spoke up and mocked SE and the Hroth hairstyles. It was only 5 min in their podcast but its more than what most ffxiv-tubers gave on criticising the "effort". They plastered 2B Hroth faces all over the thumbnail too lol
Not gonna link but just type the bold name on YT and go to 1:15:00 in their video. It's a funny yet sad 5 minutes x3
I was keeping quiet because I had hoped this was just a very, very, -very- bad april fools joke but the further we move away from April 1st the more concerned I get.
Considering the amount of money Square has made off this game and the fact that people have (broken the tos) modified their games for ages to provide Hrothgar with better hairstyles makes me feel just... man. Like worse than disappointed.
Still hoping this is some terrible joke but it feels more like square spat in the face of every Hrothgar. Even the Japanese players on twitter are all talking about just how absolutely terrible these are and how offensive it is not just to Hrothgar but to the people who will be forced to look at them.
It's not just the lack of hairstyles in my book. Nor is it even the clipping. Nor the headgear.
What the heck were they *doing* when they said "making hairstyles easier to add to Hrothgar?" Our ears are still bolted to our skulls and the haircuts selected aren't just race-inspecific redos, they were the most non-shapely hairstyles you could get.
"That's the price you pay for being the most bestial race" means "The Battle Bob is now a totem of feral fury?"
Why can't we just swing the pendulum from "Hair has to be large enough to cover the ears" to "haircut has to be so short it doesn't?"
Why can't we get a crew cut? Or a mohawk? Or a puma or jaguar like "Bald" option?
I *get* that Hrothgar require more data to move around than the other races. 100% get it. I get that folks don't want to do Heavensward like racial editions of haircuts. I am 1,000% OK with not getting every hairstyle in the game INCLUDING THE ONES I PAID FOR FROM THE MOGSTATION. (OK, maybe 999% OK, now that I think about it).
But it's the lack of transparency here. "Here's your crappy haircuts, you're the corner we cut. You're the expense we spared."
Rather than "We're really sorry guys, this didn't turn out as easy as we thought, so here are some consolation prizes while we actually work on fixing the problem, which we're hoping to add in 6.2 and then add in a couple every patch so you at least have, say, half as many options as the Viera instead of 2. Just 2. And costs you ten bucks to swap." There was no "and we intend to in the next patch throw you a bone here."
