Yeah I wouldn't want the stable to be tied to the awning slot. I am just purely advocating for these 2-3 items to not count towards the very strict outdoor limit since they are practically essential features for most players.

I can't think of anyone I know with a house that doesn't use the aetheryte so I'd agree that it would make a lot more sense to include the function as part of house ownership (just as we automatically get a teleport to the apartment building when we own an apartment. The furnishing itself could be changed to 100% decorative (which I would absolutely use on a regular basis because of the lighting effects it creates).
But Chocobo Stable and Mailbox? I don't have those at my house. I always used the ones either at my apartment building (free access to the stable if you have an apartment there, anyone can use any apartment building mailbox) or my FC's house when I was in a FC with a house. Some of my friends have them placed, some don't. Among my friends that do have a Chocobo Stable placed, they don't even stable their chocobos in them (most are already at rank 20). They use them just for decoration.
It feels awkward that some players would get a "free" decorative element beyond the standard limit instead of giving everyone an increase across the board. For it to not to count, Elevin's suggestion would make more sense - make it a "built-in" that can only be placed in a certain spot (so players would get their choice of an awning or a chocobo stable, as an example). But then that takes away the ability of other players to put them in a different location (I don't use awnings because I'd want it above my door, not the side of the house as an example).
One thing I will add here. I wish SE could fix both the Chocobo Stable and the Miniature Aetheryte so they can be placed in Storage or removed and kept in inventory when you don't want them in your yard instead of them being destroyed. They corrected that issue with so many other items I wonder why it's still a problem for those two. It's really annoying when I'm helping a friend redecorate and we have to keep moving those 2 items around the yard as we go.
