New hrothgar hairstyles are really bad.

I am just questioning what people were exactly expecting? Granted, they somehow came out with something that looks worse than even I could have expected.. Anyway, this is what I, and many others have been talking about for years. Why do you think I am so vehemently opposed to them cutting off racial features? When you accept things like this, this is what you will continue to see.

It took them THREE years and we get some hand-me-down wigs for middle aged soccer moms? This wasn't just negligence, this was straight up disrespectful.

It took them 3 years as well to unlock Bunny outfit for males because the gear designer found it "weird" and "there's other important stuff need to do first"

At least some TLC. Fine. They didn't want to give hrothgars racial specific hairstyles (that much was obvious after they decided Viera weren't going to get it. So if the ever more popular viera weren't getting them, then there was no way in the 7 hells hrothgar would get them), but we kind of expected something that would at the very least look good on Hrothgar. The bare minimum. The more popular hairstyles for hrothgar (at least from what I've seen on twitter) were some of the basic hairstyles, windcaller, and some others. Instead we are poked and prodded at like its a joke. Maybe it is an april fool's joke and they're just too embarrassed too come out and say sorry because obviously it backfired on them in a very negative way or maybe it isn't. But I do hope that if this is real, then they hold off on actually patching it in until they find an actual solution rather than "your ears are hiding under your hair!". At least let us wear hats now if you're gonna take away our ears T_T

Edit: instead of bringing these monstrosities of hairstyles to light for hroths (minus the snow hairstyle) the best place to start was to unlock the racial hairstyles hroths already have and then go from there.

They have been cutting off racial features for awhile now. This is nothing new, I don't think I've ever seen it so.. pronounced.. as shown on these hrothgar hairs, but this is what happens. This is why I do not approve of them cutting off racial features in the reaper form, cutting off tails in capes, etc. Racial features aren't the only issue with these hairs, in my opinion, though. They actually do look pretty... bad.. Like, just in general.

Maybe you all will get changes. I say keep at it anyway!

This is the issue. The more I see these complaints go on, the worst I feel about playing a Hrothgar. I'm tired of seeing people trying to defend something that's been long since established ISN'T RIGHT, no matter how you spin it. Even if they have an excuse or a good intention with this, the disappointment is so bad that it could at least warrant some official statement about this. But no, there's absolutely nothing, just as much silence as we've always had.

And I'm tired of people from other races barge in and make people feel bad for choosing to play their own race. And Hrothgars are ridiculously easy to make fun of. We're barely 3% of the population, Roegadyns outnumber us and despite being released with Viera, those will always be more popular. We're treated as weirdoes for enjoying a race that isn't "The same thing as Hyur, but with X animal trait". And worse, we're told really crap jokes about how Hrothgars were a mistake to be implemented, how Yoshida's subliminally telling people that he wants to skin cats...

There is no "keeping at it" that hasn't already gotten tiresome. I get it, to many people it's funny to say crap comments like that. We all make fun of Lalafells for being potatoes, Elezen for being tall, but it isn't usually with sheer and utter malice. And since the Live Letter that's all I've seen. Sheer malice and scorn toward Hrothgar players, either for existing or for complaining. And given the silence this dev team's shown toward us, it really does feel like we're alone and unwanted. In fact, during Zadnor, many Hrothgar felt like the brutality depicted on-screen was too much and wondered if Square just hated them. THIS is the community they're fostering with stuff like this. And it's hard not to feel like the butt of a joke at this point.

We want to keep at it. But frankly let's be honest: all that we've needed to say has already been said. All the issues, the reactions, they're all here. From Hrothgar players and people who support us alike. And if that won't change anything, I doubt more of the same will.

I have personally advocated for improvements, and more hairs for viera AND hrothgar. Since their launch. I try to always couple them as viera/hrothgar, and ask for *quality* things - I have to always make that distinction. I'm sorry, but "keeping at it" is all you can do, and hope others support you all. Try to make your voices heard, and this is a lot more push back than I have seen in awhile, so I think many of you hrothgar players are doing a great job. I really do hope SE listens. Unfortunately, my optimism around this issue has pretty much run out as well.

I don't play hrothgar myself but I'm here to show my support. The new hair is even worse than I expected. Cutting ears off for new styles? LOL my first thought was that it must be an april fools joke.

Let's hope they see the outrage and will do something about it.

All the design choices are make me worry about the future. Let's look at the omega M outfit and how it absolutely destroys some body shapes. The quality has gone down in some aspects. And the treatment of the new races makes it even worse. I don't get why they are working on missing genders if the existing ones are far away from being fixed.

When I watched the live letter, I figured Toshio Murouchi snickering when a couple of the pictures were being held up by Yoshida was an indication that they were probably (no, hopefully) April Fools jokes or something... That and how ridiculous most of them looked (ears or not). Though that's not looking like the case at this point. But man, you know it's bad when Foxclon can barely contain himself when the first batch of Hroth hairstyles are being showcased.

That doesn't look like years worth of designing and modeling, that's like, throwing something together at the last minute because they absolutely can't keep stringing fans along and- oh no! we forgot the ears!- oh well... I get that they were probably trying to release the counterparts to Viera's new hairstyles, but they're so unflattering. Like, you make a race whose /pose emote is to bare their fangs and claws and give them Karen and 2B wigs... My sympathies to the Hroth players that were holding out this long for something decent.
