Raising awareness on useless GMs

I know this wont do much, but still. Me and my friends have been harassed by the same person for 6 months and the useless GMs haven't done a thing about it. Report her all the time for it as well. Again I know this won't fix it, but oh well. They obviously don't do their jobs, so what's the point of them?

I'm curious as to what manner of harassment you're dealing with, because anything that registers in the chat log shouldn't getting ignored.

I have a friend who was banned for 24 hours just for sending a /tell to a player saying they're a coward, so I guess you're just out of luck, the GMs in this game crack down on even the minor things very thoroughly.

I wouldn't generalize that all of them are useless but I have heard and read (on steam reviews) about a lot of situations where they are unfair or useless, but they still are better than most gms in other games... still, I think its good to recognize there are indeed cases like this out there and not just dismiss the possibility.

They do their jobs. We don't always get the results we want.

Some players claim harassment when harassment isn't actually happening, or it's happening outside of the game where GMs have no ability to confirm or authority to take action.

First, have you made certain the other players' activity would be considered harassment under the Prohibited Activities policy?

Second, have you placed the other player on your blacklist? That usually handles the most common forms of harassment (though not all).

Speaking as someone who dealt with a very...interesting stalker within the last couple of months, they do take care of it. They just need proof that it's occurring via the person actively breaking the ToS at the time of the report. My stalker was only finally dealt with when they were able to catch her in the act and I have not seen her online since. I can only assume what happened.

Except when they don't do jack, even though it shouldn't be up for debate that it's a major offence. Who knows what rules they have, if any, or if it's just personal preference how they decide to crackdown on things.

There are always things a Player can do.

- Report those Players
- Blacklist them
- move away from that situation
- if they are in your Garden of your House / FC House, then report them again
- do not stay in Limsa Lominsa, just to make Musik, listen to Musik, show off or whatever other reason you may have. Move to another place. The World is large enough.
- Do not place every stranger on your Friendlist
- Do not talk about your "real live", cause the more someone in a Game knows about you, the more it becomes a weapon, used against you.
- do not react if someone says some shit about your Character, one reaction is enough to make a stalker / harassing Player to stay.

Those above mentioned things should solve 98% your problems.

The usual case is someone making a mountain out of a molehill and claiming harassment when that isn't actually happening.
In a panic, things may seem worse than they actually are.

While I don't think there's no player conflict going on, what someone may consider harassment probably just isn't harassment, and that doesn't mean the GMs aren't doing their jobs. If anything it means they've done their jobs (or still ongoing with it) and didn't punish a player who has done no wrong. Without further details of the situation there's no way the rest of us who may have more experience in these situations could make a call, as the GMs would never give direct details like that.
