I am sorry, you need to be more clear on that as I personally never garden and only sell stuffs on retainers to get my fund when raise chocobo.
I understand the onion need cross breeding but there are many other income sources to get the fund

No offense, tot everything is about Materia and I do agree with your concern in that Materia thread; but in general, Matreia has nothing to do with both FC Housing and Apartment being instanced house.
Also, Balmung problem is unique of its own.
It is bunch of players refuse to leave an over-populated server.
It is just matter of time SE decides to purge Balmung into two and it is not like they have never done it before in FF11.

Also, are you suggesting current generation of players no longer communicate properly any more?
I find it difficult to believe that a FC leader will still kick you after you inform him you are taking a 30 days holiday.

You do know I am favoring FCFS over lol lottery in the housing forum.
A lot people are going to be disappointed after that lottery delusion bubble busted in 6.1 and FC room and apartment is their only option left until they can try their luck at next ward release

It'd also IMO be a good way of targeting the handful of known oligarchs who hold a substantial amount of player housing.
The people who can afford multiple houses/wards can afford any logical tax. Because usually the people with multiple houses are above average at grinding gil.

There are players who barely managed to scrape 20m/50m to get a medium/large. These type of players do not have gil grinding as their main focus in XIV.

Any tax which is of significance to multi-house owners would see such players lose their houses when they can no longer afford the tax.

That only punish the new players.
Most of old players are only seeing their gils increase day by day and there is not really much item to spend gil on

It seems like the peopole who already have a house are the ones that hate the lottery system most

Because it does nothing to actually fix housing.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

The requirements are laughable and will most certainly be abused.

I don't have a house. Really, I don't. But I'm still not excited for this. This won't fix the fact that houses will sell out quickly anyway. Camping was definitely unhealthy but just because this new system fixes that part doesn't mean it's flawless. It's not even going to be a level playing field because the biggest FCs with active members are intended to have an advantage. You will still need to re-subscribe to keep your house.

Absolutely no one is stating that lottery is flawless. We are all aware that only a drastic increase in supply or a complete overhaul of the housing system could alleviate the housing shortage and again SE has its hands tied on this due to server/manpower constraints or simply the ideal that they prefer the neighborhood aspect of wards as compared to instanced housing.

That being said, if you are going for a personal, your chance in the lottery is equal to everyone else going for a personal as well since you can't stack bids. For FC houses, it has been stated that SE would prefer larger FCs to have an advantage in increasing their chances since they are more likely to need and utilize the bigger space in large/medium houses as compared to small FCs, where a small house should suffice for their needs.

So far from what I can glean from the feedback, the general sentiment from the player base is that they are mostly in favor of lottery compared to FCFS since it allows everyone to have a chance at bidding for a house whereas FCFS only favor a selected few who 1) is able to stay up during patch launch and 2) managed to login immediately and successfully without getting d/c or facing other server issues, which is almost a certainty. Housing is definitely more of a social element of FF14 gameplay and should hence be more accessible to the casual player base, instead of restricted to the more hardcore players who are able to utilize any advantage they could get to jump ahead of everyone in the server queue in the event of FCFS housing.

From the opposite point of view: I am willing to stay up late and brave the queues for a house. The lottery system arbitrarily roadblocks me. It arbitrarily grants an extra shot to people unable to do that, sure. It also arbitrarily hands a chance over to people too lazy to do that, who don't feel like getting up early or losing a little sleep. At the very least the old system occasionally rewarded dedication alongside luck. This new one only rewards luck. Call that "more fair" if you wish.
