Agreed. Honestly confused why they didn't leave him dead in Stormblood. No wonder they called him an "extra"I believe his avatar was supposed to be somewhat important?
The way I see it, SQEX had two choices. Fix Zenos flaws or put him in the drawer that shall never be opened again.
Seems like they went with the second solution.
I still believe there was a massive rewriting, that Zenos was supposed to play a much bigger part.
Otherwise, what was the point of reviving him at all in the first place? Fandaniel could've accomplished everything without Zenos.

Hahahahahahahahahhahahaha
Ahem.. I mean, good. There literally was no point to his existing after he killed himself in SB and everything he was involved in would have been better off making use of other, more interesting characters. His continued, useless, pointless existence actually did nothing but hurt the story.
That said, I still wouldn't be shocked if they brought him back somehow. Not as Zenos, per se, but in some other way or some other form. I don't know how they would do it, but I wouldn't put it beyond them.

I can see the avatar having more promise and maybe a more interesting personality than Zenos at this point, even if its dialogue just consists of [disturbing voidsent moan] [punches fist in hand, nods]. Just too bad Zenos had to kill off another more interesting character with more potential - Varis - before kicking the bucket himself.

What, Varis is the worst/most boring character in the game, lol.I can see the avatar having more promise and maybe a more interesting personality than Zenos at this point, even if its dialogue just consists of [disturbing voidsent moan] [punches fist in hand, nods]. Just too bad Zenos had to kill off another more interesting character with more potential - Varis - before kicking the bucket himself.
If it's our shard from the 13th like Yoshi was suggesting pre-Endwalker, I'm going to assume its schemes will at minimum involve trying to kill us and unleashing a horde of its brethren upon the world.
Considering that the voidsent have always been relegated to side content it would be interesting to see them take a central focus for once.

I'd say Varis, Krile, Y'shtola, Lyse are probably the most stale. I think they dropped the ball with Zenos. They had no clue what to do with him after bringing him back and they shouldn't have.

I have enough to say about the matter that I'll have to make my own thread about it, but I'll try to be brief here: the interview is extremely disappointing. I'm not upset he's perma-dead, because I 100% expected that going into Endwalker. What bothers me is the fact that the writers seem to suggest this was how his story was always meant to play out. Yikes! With all the buildup the man received throughout post-ShB, I was expecting adequate exposition, development, and closure before a satisfying death, and we didn't get any of that. It poisoned the ending for me --everything about that dude's story betrays EW's themes on empathy and second chances.
What also has me confused is that they don't talk about what happened to his SOUL, but go on and on about how utterly destroyed his body was. They once made such a big deal about his soul being as immortal as an Ascian's, so what happened to that? If it did persist, I hope he has a chance at reincarnation (if Hades and Hyth's souls found their way back to the aetherial sea, I don't see why he can't), because if someone like Amon is allowed to try again, then so should he, now that the Empire isn't around to mold him into a monster.

So either Yoshi-P was lying pre-EW when he said that Zenos's Avatar would matter, or he's lying now. Personally, while I think Zenos's soul coming back is an open question, his BODY will 100% be back. My money's on that voidsent riding Zenos's body and we have to put it down, through the course of which we will get some closure on the plot threads set-up in ShB.
