This was all discussed explicitly in the Q+A from a few weeks ago, so it's not new information. What is curious is that the Endwalker media tour interviews attached some plot significance on the 'true identity' of Zenos' voidsent avatar, and the last Q+A reiterated that this was a secret. They might do something with this, or might not. Who knows.

Thank god that he will stay dead. I really did not like his character and for me at least he took down the finale a bit since I did not even want to give him the satisfaction of getting his last fight.

Nice to see it confirmed, since so many still believed that he will be back even though his whole arc was more than finished and they zoomed on his last breath.

The way I see it, SQEX had two choices. Fix Zenos flaws or put him in the drawer that shall never be opened again.
Seems like they went with the second solution.

I still believe there was a massive rewriting, that Zenos was supposed to play a much bigger part.
Otherwise, what was the point of reviving him at all in the first place? Fandaniel could've accomplished everything without Zenos.

No, Twitter on the whole is pretty fine with this, albeit a few people still aren't buying it (honestly, I don't know how much clearer they can make it). Granted, Twitter isn't a hivemind, you can find anyone saying anything if you look hard enough, but the main Twitter thread about this is mostly split between 'yeah, alright' and 'I still don't buy it'.

Which makes sense. If there's any single leading motivator for FFXIV Twitter it's 'looking at pretty people', and Zenos has a lot more competition in that field now than he did in Stormblood and Shadowbringers. Especially in his home category of 'dark and edgy pretty men', that field's actually kinda crowded these days.

I'm glad Yoshi has confirmed that so finally all the comments about "oh, he's not dead really! He'll be back!" now can finally die along with him, it's just a shame that Yoshi actually had to go that route becasue some players were in denial.

As Cleretic said, the edgy prettyboy villian archetype is so overdone now I just wanted to be finally rid of him (Emet was never edgy, he was a far more cerebal and trickster villian than to have to rely on cheap grimdark imagery, and had a more mature hairstyle than Zenos, who I just wanted to hack at his stupid blonde 80's surfer locks with a pair of scissors after he started getting around helmetless following his fake-out death), so it's good to hear that he really is dead now and is never coming back - left to rot on the edge of universe with no way back. Unloved and unmourned.

Good riddance.

(Editted to be less combative seeming) (Putting this here before people start; yadda yadda 'why did you think he was coming back' lots of theories were thrown around ect ect. They seemed believeable.)

I’m fine with it. He wasn’t a redeemable character, and a redemption arc certainly wouldn’t have worked. He also has not done anything that couldn’t have been done by any other villain added since 4.1. They gave him a decent send off at the end of EW—one I could actually appreciate—and bringing him back with the aim of redeeming his character would have destroyed the small favor Ishikawa was able to grant him at the end of 6.0.

Leave him to rest. Let’s start on a new adventure and not rehash old enemies that should have stepped out of the story 4 years ago.
