For myself, yep it's worth it. But I have human compassion to see that some people do miss their old servers. And that's fine. I hope those people spend a little time on an Alt still if they do return. We will miss them all, because most people on Materia are very nice, very friendly, and care.

It is not a shame in the slightest. They begged for years and years for their own data centre. It is not SEs fault if there isn’t a large enough player base now they have their wish. Moral of the story, be careful what you wish for. Is good ping worth the sacrifice and queue times?

Who did? Certainly none of my OCE community did. No one wanted to see us all split up and stressed out about housing and where we would go. The only people who were upset about OCE players were the Japanese.

Not to say people weren't grateful for servers, it was exciting. But everyone who has played this game for more than 5 minutes knew exactly how those servers were going to pan out.

I think SE has made a mistake. We were all hoping this wasn't the case and I don't have any evidence for this...

But I think the bulk of English players on the Tonberry weren't Australian. I think they're SEA. And SEA has zero reason to move to OCE, higher ping, smaller community. The servers needed to be in Singapore, not in Sydney.

But the quite small number of unhappy people shouldn't be read as the state of the DC. Most people are doing fine and are quietly happy. The servers are very populated in the A/NZ peak hours. Everyone I know is having fun.

There are a some who feel sad about being 90, alone, and bored while most other people started fresh alts and are having a blast playing through again - (no more 111111111 as a healer, low geared, low level people are fun to heal).

I feel bad for those 90s, especially the ones who gave up their homes and now regret it. I will miss them when they go back to old fields, and when they return I hope they also alt and have fun with us still.

New DCs always take 6 months to a year or two to fill out. You need a certain number of people at level cap, and that's what we don't have, because we are new.

I don’t want the servers for the EU at all. It was an example of where they would’ve better been out to use. Currently as it stands, the EU is separated into two data centres with two dead party finders because that’s the nature of the patch cycle. More servers aren’t going to fix that.

I’m not spending time trawling through the forums finding the many threads of many oceanic player begging for their own data centre.

You are right, they have played on NA and JP DCs for years without issue and yet still they begged.

You are also right, we all knew how it would pan out. The population and layer base in that part of the world didn’t warrant its own DC.

Currently as it stands, the EU is separated into two data centres with two dead party finders because that’s the nature of the patch cycle. More servers aren’t going to fix that.

Sorry your EU-DC is so dead. I hope it improves for you.

You're allowed to have your own opinion, of course, but a main issue behind why the OCE DC is so empty is due to the lack of housing available. No one who owns a house on a main elsewhere is gonna realistically dump that house to start over on another DC thar has none to replace it. If they do, fair enough, but I personally wouldn't. Would not be shocked in the slightest if we see a wave of people moving over there once it is available. Even JP filled up eventually from having housing just sitting freely available for purchase for weeks.

Would encourage you to consider that perspective before automatically calling the DC a failure. If the DC is still a ghost town a year from now, then I'll be more inclined to agree with your opinion. As such, it's still too early to predict the future of OCE.

Housing was by far, BY FAR, the biggest factor people were considering before moving to OCE and it's why a lot of people just made alts to check it out. No one wants to give up their housing, especially not after the hours, stress and brain drain spent trying to acquire one. Personal housing dictates so much of player decisions, sometimes I don't know if SE really understands the extent of it.

Right now our sister FC is on Bismarck which is miserable and in a word, dead. It's so dead no one can even sell anything on the MB. The obvious solution is move to Ravana but everyone is still debating on it because of the housing issue.
