One thing these thread have taught me. Is the player base is racist against lalas.
I think it has to do with people thinking lalafells as children and therefore they don't want to be seen marrying a child. I honestly do not know any other reason why. (Well I do know another reason why but it's even less joyous)
I think (aside from our obvious chibi bodies) the player voices we get don't help with that lol. I really, really wish female Lalas had more choices of adult women voices instead of sounding like a flat out child. But after playing a Lala for so long I can't really pin them as kids - they're either adults or exist.
This is mostly a NA-exclusive mindset, is the sad part. People in JP -- including the devs themselves, obviously know they're adults.
Japanese media has a long and storied history of trying to build plausible deniability around blatantly child-coded characters. Plus, there's an FC in JP that throws kindergarten roleplay events, so I don't think it's fair to say they don't see them as childlike. Official sources describe Lalafells as appearing childlike, and have even stated that the inspiration for their racial outfits came from kindergarten clothing. It's really not a crazy mental stretch to perceive them that way, and it doesn't help that the Lala community is basically a revolving door of people getting outed as pedophiles.
I would agree with you but Kindergarten roleplay events!?!?! Balmung would have that beat in a heartbeat. But that is the sad truth, that most of the player base does not like Lalas and I would like to get married on this character, oh well.Japanese media has a long and storied history of trying to build plausible deniability around blatantly child-coded characters. WHOA. That is a big assumption to make. 0_o Ive played a lala and have never had those tendancies. In fact pedos are repugnant. I always thought they were ADULT dolls. They adventure and drink and swear (NPCS!) so I do not see them as kids. I do not think all that play them are the perverts you think they are.
Wise men speak because the have something to say, fools because they have to say something. - Plato - He saw the ff forums apparently.
