Endwalker vs shadowbringers story, which did you enjoy more and why? (spoilers)

It ultimately ends up just making the whole sequence feel kind of silly because Zenos explicitly did it with the intent of riling us up, but there's little indication it achieved that at all.

We didn't need to kill anyone, but even just causing a slight injury would've left more of a lasting impression and also would've made the memory of Vrtra's words in the aftermath resonate more strongly.

I think it's ridiculous that a knife throw from 'average Garlean soldier' was enough to stop Zenos' avatar too. It makes me wonder if there is something to it being the WoL's 13th shard because it being distracted by the presence of the WoL's soul is the only thing that'd make sense given the situation.

The whole "steal your body" thing Zenos did was ridiculous to begin with, and of course we never see or hear about it again.

To me it screams last minute editing. There was just far too much invested into that plot just for it to amount to nothing.

On a basic level, cold blooded murder is something that should not be attached to our character / avatar. Implied murder is one thing like the princess in ARR but actual murder is another.

Even if we did not do it, we would know that our face was the last thing the victim saw and many others would have seen the act. The NPCs in the story would behave differently from then on and I would never look at my character the same way again, hence the quit as the fantasy would be ruined.

We have done some bad things, I won’t disagree on that but murdering our friends is way too far.

Ah i see. Personally i think it would be a really neat thing. We as the WoL would have to cope with the fact that while the actions were not our own, our body wounded someone close to us. It would help as a bit more flavor and personality to the WoL imo if we saw them struggling with this throughout the expansion, especially if it maybe resulted in a brief despair moment.

Zenos didn't bother to kill anyone in our body because he didn't care enough about them to bother. He could've ran the whole way and probably slaughtered half the camp and most of the Scions before we could catch up if that had been his goal. He really had no purpose for it other than to piss us off.

I think thats a lot of peoples points though. He knows us, he knows how much we treasure our friends. The end patches of ShB hes going on and on how he wants us to come to him full of rage. Killing or hurting someone close to us WHILE in our body would easily do that.

Sure, but why bother when the simple knowledge that he could've done it is enough? We've seen before that he doesn't bother to fight people that aren't worth his time, and he's already dismissed the rest of the Scions from that back at Rhalgr's Reach. It's entirely in character for him.

I mean, I know a lot of people around here lately love to call for killing off whatever character they don't like, but personally, that would've driven me off the game. Killing for cheap shock value is absolutely terrible writing.

Is it really any different from them killing off npc's we had just met for shock value? I dont see how it would be just for cheap shock value either? I even gave an example, it could be used to drive the WoL to a darker and more emotional place rather than the cardbord cutout we typically get. We could see them struggle with the trauma of it and perhaps even have some moments where they almost give in to their despair. IT help help hammer home the expansions messages while making the WoL feel more human. It really isnt that in character for him, as we know hes willing to do anything to promote his fight with the WoL, this would just be another way to stoke the fires so to speak.

Exactly. I think on a meta level the developers realized it had potential to be just too far for players. And it would have been out of character for Zenos anyway. What he did gets him attention from the WoL which is what he wanted so why would he expend further effort for the same result?

im curious how it could be deemed "too far." This isnt a kids game, they make that pretty clear within the first few hours of the game.Even yoshi p said in an interview in ShB that its unrealistic to expect everyone on the ally side to make it out safely in a story filled with war and strife. So im just extremely curious on this.
