umm yes?? FFXIV storyline is too long, it doesn't help that there's alot of hand holding and combat doesn't change, just spammy rotation
look the storyline is okay but I can only do it once, if someone told me to start FFXIV all over from the beginning, I would quit
I don't think the thread was about alt-alt
I think it's more alt-job though /ponder

This is my lineup through the years of playing through the Msq
Arr-- Brd/Whm
Hw-- Ast
SB-- Ast/Rdm
Shb -- Dnc
Ew -- Dnc
Though i do play other classes out side of Msq, have all the DoW/DoM maxed not counting blue mage, so i usually spice things up in the roulettes with different classes. then playing the class needed when doing treasure hunt and extreme's with fc

The seas continue to rise while the lesser moon continues to fall, and ilm by ilm, the world becomes ever more unlike itself, without the illumination of knowledge, we but vainly flail as specters in the dark.
I always have my main: PLD, but I swap around in healers and dps pretty regularly depending on how I’m feeling.
It's important for me to really understand a job and once I've had a decent amount of good practice I can usually go back to it without major issues.
So I generally level jobs one by one so avoid splitting my attention between too many different gameplay styles. At most, I level 2 jobs simultaneously and it's often the same role if I do.
I always start with what is required for my static and use this job for any max level content like Normal raids and Experts to get more practice on it and then it's usually one job per role first so I'm more flexible because I enjoy filling in on whatever is needed and see fights from different perspectives.
It's horrible for armoury chest management because I have all tome sets of all level ranges lying around and deleting it doesn't make sense when I'll level another job of that role in the near future. But it's definitely better for me to really get into a job to the point of where I can say that it clicked, that I got it and can safely switch around without losing the progress I made.
I have clear favourites for each role, like BLM is always my first choice for caster. GNB is the tank that really hooked me and I enjoyed DRG and NIN during ShB so one or even both of them will most likely be my melee of choice in EW. Healers are gutted beyond measure but from the 4 we have, SGE is definitely the most appealing to me for its smooth gameplay.
For EW it was BLM > SGE > GNB and next up is probably a melee because it's far easier to get into it after playing tank. And after that maybe DNC, I enjoyed it in ShB as well.
Excellent taste.I level up just about every job but usually have a favorite in each role.
Dragoon is my favorite melee, though Ninja is vying for that spot.
I haven't capped Gunbreaker and Dank Knight yet to get a feel for them, but Warrior holds a special place in my heart because of monke flip.
Haven't maxed out any of the physical ranged yet, mainly because Elden Ring has me in an inescapable choke hold. I might give Dancer a shot though.
Black Mage will always be my favorite caster. Plain and simple.
As for healers, while I'm still bitter about the direction they've taken and the hilariously dull damage rotation that practically remains the same from Sastasha all the way to endgame, I like Sage. If only because it at least has a semblance of something approaching an actual damage rotation. Even if it's just hit Phlegma twice during openers or when necessary without overcapping then returning to Dosis spam.

Being around since ARR beta I wound up starting with 2 jobs then over the years slowly expanding my pool of select jobs.
Though I always consider myself a monk main with it being the first thing I raise to new level cap each expansion, my gearing and raid progression priority may change per raid tier:
ARR: MNK, SCH
HW: MNK, SCH, DRK
SB: DRK, MNK, MCH
SHB: MNK, MCH, SCH
EW: SGE, MNK, MCH
That said, there are other jobs I’ll play only for specific content, ie DRK and RPR may use in hunts and dungeons, SAM and SCH I use exclusively in PvP, and BLU for it’s own content plus anytime it becomes efficient for grinding special currencies.
What I’ve come to find about myself at this point is that I personally don’t enjoy leveling additional jobs unless I find a necessary and long lasting need. And outside of Tank mimic BLU, I generally don’t enjoy playing caster dps.
I'm roughly...
95% on NIN
4% on SGE/DRK
1% on gatherer/crafter (which I mostly don't have leveled)
That is to say that I essentially just play NIN. NIN is what I like, and I don't play the game to the point where I feel that I need variety for the sake of variety (and I don't generally value variety for it's own sake). It's just how I like to play.

It depends on the content for me. Some jobs I am too afraid to use in Savage raids, but for dailies I almost exclusively use Tank/ Heal.
I also like to level things with people who I befriend and thus I have many jobs on many different levels![]()
