Petty story incoming but whatever.

Last night I queued for Qitana Ravel because I'm trying to collect glams on my Dancer. Paired with another Dancer who was level 85 (mine was 79).

Dancer has about a 20% uptime on their Standard Step. Didn't use Technical Step at all or Devilment. Didn't use Samba or Curing to help with heals.
Tank Wall-Pulled and the other dancer used single-target skills only from far away even though there were 6 to 9 mobs to hit.

Aiming Glam drops (hat) - yeah that Dancer won it.

End of the run they said "Thanks so much! Had fun!" I just laughed, as I was feeling so petty and annoyed the entire run, especially after the glam loss, but seems like they had a lot of fun so no harm no foul end of the day

I've seen these types of things a lot lately. And as a DNC main, it hurts. Especially when they don't use Dance Partner until 2nd group of mobs, if not later, and let Standard Step fall off all the time.

I've been playing DNC a lot lately, I can 100000% tell you that if I partner up late, it's because I forgot lol. Wouldn't be surprised if that's the case when you come across a DNC like that.

As for standard step, idk about that. Sometimes I forget to get it back up before it falls off, but it's usually never more than like 2 seconds before putting it back on unless I'm exhausted af or something and just not thinking about it.

You should be using SS on CD for it's 720 potency every 30 sec, especially since it takes the slightly less time than the 500 potency from 2 other skills.

I've been pretty good at keeping it up lately I just struggle to remember at times, but, that's just always been a me problem (I've always been a forgetful sort of person, oop).

I wasn't sure if I should be casting this every 30 seconds due to the number of GCDs it takes. I'm pretty sure once I hit Standard, I have a GCD Cooldown before Dance 1, and another for Dance 2. I need to pay more attention if I can Finish immediately or if I have another GCD. But if it's 4 GCDs, would it be better to fish for Fan Dance procs instead of reapplying immediately?

The Standard Step takes regular GCD when activated, then the actual Steps are 1 sec each, with the Standard Finish being 1.5, so total of 5 sec, or 2 GCD, to get the 720.

I just went with the values put on Lodestone, so could be slightly faster depending on Sk.Speed

I'm not a DNC main, but have a firm understanding of the tooltips and rotation. As you probably already know, activating Standard Step locks you out of all your other GCDs until you execute Standard Finish. The steps don't cause damage by themselves but rather pump up SF's overall potency along with the damage boost it gives you and your dance partner. Assuming you perform both of the required steps, the 720 pot and the 5% damage boost is applied when you execute SF. This is when you will see the damage and the DMG buff register in the chat log.

Furthermore, I had some confusion with this tooltip that you might share, and that was whether or not the bonuses are applied to the initial SF being executed. The answer to that is no. They will be applied on your next SF, but will be given to your Technical Step/Technical Finish which you will immediately do following SF.

The idea behind mechanics like this is the non damage GCDs you use are returned to you when using the actual damage skill. WHM Afflatus Misery and NIN Mudras are other examples of this.
