Elezen ear covers really bug me too. It's like the opposite problem to Miqo'te – instead of being too small, they're always huge and they don't adjust with the ear length slider.

I don't know if they're scaled properly for max-length Elezen ears but they look ridiculous on my Elezen character who only has slightly-longer-than-human ears but gets the same huge points on hats regardless. It ruins a lot of hats where he'd be fine with the human version.

And then you get silly things like the Late Allagan healer hat with the built-in headphones, which logically I would think just need bigger teardrop-shaped earpieces, and instead they turn into weird sticky-out cones that don't look at all comfortable.

    I can see how it wouldn't be great for an Elezen, folding your ears and all, but that hat works really well on a Lala;

Which makes me think that the Allagans were either Lala sized, or the distant ancestors of the race.

Unfortunately, the full body suits posted by the person you quoted have never been fixed. Those still show a character's tail, despite SE having the ability to hide them.

The new level 490 tomestone equipment using the tail of the body piece as a kind of tail protector is great. In contrast to the chopped off tail of the 480.
As someone who now mains my once-alt Viera, I fully support your statement on ear compatibility!

What's with the ludicrous attitude on display here? "Just use Fantasia"?
Different people like different races in varying degrees and for different reasons. That statement can be applied to literally everything. If two people play Dragoon, and one of them thinks Heavy Thrust was an unnecessary button to press and someone else responded with 'just play a different class instead', that's a pretty pointless argument. Maybe the person in question likes the aesthetics, or even the rest of the gameplay of Dragoon, and simply telling them to bin all that instead of acknowledging the criticism is silly.

It'd be great if tails were fully integrated onto each and every piece of equipment in the game. However, going back to fix the existing pieces takes a fair amount of effort to go through, and it's not something that's easy to pitch to the project managers at SE as a good use of time and resources. Accepting that limitation as an unlikely, if the clipping bothers people more than not having the tail would, why not let those people make that decision with a toggle? The same goes for sculpted ears into helmets.

Personally, I think that hiding the tail and especially the sculpted ears would be nice to have as a miqo'te. The ears on helmets look really stupid most of the time, especially on things like chain mail or bandanas, and I'd like to turn that off. The tail, likewise, clips through most of the stuff I like, and I found this thread (surprised by how recent it was) just because I was searching if there was a way to fix that. I may even pick up a suit of Moonward armor just to lose my tail, just as I did with the maiming Cryptlurker helmet, since that hides the ears nicely. That's my taste. I understand being upset that it isn't sculpted in, but I actively covet helmets that don't have those.

But if someone told me to just switch to Hyur, I'd be upset because I'd have to explain that I like the miqo'te animations, and the face choices, voice options, so on. Because that's what I value when I picked that race, I didn't particularly care for the tail and I wouldn't mind removing it from time to time.

A toggle would satisfy both sides of this issue for minimal effort, since it's been shown to be a property that can be turned on or off. I genuinely don't understand the hostility or resentment towards the idea that people might want it. If it's for immersion/realism's sake (the only argument I can conceive here), you have much bigger fish to fry with people doing the Dying Gasp wearing chicken heads and bunny leotards or questing in Coerthas wearing their underwear.

Just as an aside, Viera can't even wear most hats, and I'm sure that being able to wear hats at all even if they looked weird or removed the ears would be preferable to simply not having the choice.

There are more sides than two and it wouldn't satisfy the people who picked the race they did for the ears and tails to whom your essentially saying "if you don't like how ears and tails are treated, just ask for a hyur-fication button".

I don't play miqo'te for the emotes and animations, if given the choice I'd use Roegadyn emotes and animations on my miqote.

Even if they don't change it for the past equipment, they can avoid it for future equipment instead of clip tail or cut tail off. There are options, even for capes and it's said to see past equipment that does accommodate the cape and then see some of current things that are just throwing they're hands up.

Ears are worse than tails, honestly.

It's like SE just straight up doesn't care and started chopping them off with most headgear since ShB.

Best example I can think of: Look at any of the old turban/headwraps between A Realm Reborn and Stormblood. They modelled the ears or allowed them to poke through. The Palaka ones that are in the Thavnair dungeon? Couldn't be bothered. Ears just disappear.

This is why a lot of us are saying they shouldn't think it's acceptable to remove tails occasionally. They need to address the core issue instead of have some workaround like a toggle. You all don't need to make excuses for them. They used to do it and then they stopped caring. Nowadays it's actually hard to find a piece of gear that acknowledges you're playing a race with ears. If that happens with tails too, then why allow us to even the pick a race who's defining features are ears and tails?

For me at least every time I've wished there was a hide tail button its always with a piece of that gear that should hide the the tail but doesn't. 'ie capes robes some dresses anything with long flowy cloth bits that start above where the tail is attached realistically these should all hide your tail because something is in front of it. These also tend the

worst offenders for tail clipping. I mean just add a hide tail checkbox or something when making glamor plates to so i can deal with those pieces of gear. Unless there's lore somewhere stating how the tails of Miqo'te, Au Ra and Hrothgar don't have to obey all the laws or physics or something. I'm not that well versed in ff lore so there might be.
