I see it otherwise. More DCs = more competition and propably lower prices for the raw materials. Market work better when there is competition.
Cheers
Don't agree, larger market doesn't equal to larger rmt group. While producer and consumer both growth there won't be big difference as before. Moreover it actually protect the consumer (majority) from oligarch jacking up the price. Intra DC travel already stabilize the price a lot, and cross DC will just do more.Yes, it happens all the time; RMT people have tons of accounts and alts. I don't know for certain if it's RMT related or not, but a small group of people with a huge number of alts and a million retainers have de facto control of the market on Atomos. The prices they charge are low enough to ensure regular players don't make much of a profit on crafted goods while the cartel rakes in the money. It's hit the point where it's more profitable to sell [them] raw materials than it is to sell finished goods.
Intra-DC travel with the ability to purchase from all market boards on a DC causes enough issues. We don't need the ability to interact with another DC's economy.
Most people are too lazy to visit another world or are even unaware that they can visit another world, nevermind DC travel. Even if it affects the economies a bit, the benefits of region travel outweigh these concerns.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

Indeed I think it help stabilize the market, dilute the influence of single bot who are affecting the market price.
While culture shock might be a small part of it, the actual realistic reason why DC travel is limited to regions only is likely because of how their hardware setup currently functions.
Currently, all DCs of a region are hosted in the same building. Aether, Crystal, Primal are all hosted in the same building in Sacramento, Chaos & Light are hosted in the same building in Germany(?), the JP datacenters are all hosted in the same building in Tokyo, etc.
Because they're connected, copying and passing data between them is relatively easy, since it's just read/write copy passes between connected hardware.
Trying to copy data from one region's DC to another however, would require a more sophisticated setup involving cloud services and possible contract negotiations between the multiple different datacenter companies they use to host their hardware in each region in order to get everything inter-connected remotely. Something that might be too financially expensive or legally cumbersome for them at this time compared to the much easier setup of just creating region locked travel due to the regions already being connected within each other.
Well they believe they can do it. The official word from Yoshi is "do the players want it" That's why these threads are popping up on the forums. While culture shock might be a small part of it, the actual realistic reason why DC travel is limited to regions only is likely because of how their hardware setup currently functions.
