It wont make sense for any craft to repair any item

How can a cook kbnow how to repair armor?
How can a goldsmith know how to repair leather?

In the end it comes down to 1 fact we have already seen.

Battleclasses wanted their individuality, and they are getting it. With that in mind why would you want to take that away from crafters.

Any Crafting class being able to affix any materia and repair anything would just be the easy answer to "fixing" things. We have a Search function now so I wonder why we can't just use that to find people to affix things. The update has only just come out and I believe the search function is new so perhaps using this player poll now was a tad to early. Upon a quick search it does seem possible to find crafters easily. If anything I think crafters should make use of the search function, they set themselves to "seeking party" to let people know that they are looking for work and under comments they can put what there rates are for affixing gear. If you like the cost then you send them a tell and affix though if I"m not mistaken I believe you still have to trade gear to them so there is the whole trust thing.

Basically any class is the easy answer to fix things and what they really need to do is wait a bit longer after this update to see how things flesh out and people make use of the search function. Along with that they have to make an interface where one doesn't have to trade to a crafter in order to affix the item, once they do that I would imagine it would be easier to find people.

For repairs I don't care, either way is fine with me, repairs are accessable from any camp and town anyways, player repairs are clunky and annoying atm(changing class and getting every ability on cd etc).

For materia, I'm fine with either option as well, but I'd rather see materia being meldable within 10lvl range like repairs are and a bazaar type meld request implemented.

I woulda liked to see other more intressting questions involving crafting.

Because crafting is a pain, no doubt one day I will be just like you and have all my classes at 50 but for the time being I just want to click one button and have everything I have equipped repaired *by myself*

Of course as I said above I would be happy with the alternative of being able to repair on a battle class as long as you have the required craft levelled to fix the item.

i like the system the way it is. after all a blacksmith cant repair your cotton slacks with a hammer can he?

someone on here once said materia. is the end game of disciples of the hand and i feel that accurate. there's always people that will meld stuff for you. just stop being cheap with your rewards. disciples of the hand is all about making stuff to make money so pay them lol. 50k i'll meld anything you want. 5k hardly worth swapping my gear for.

I said no for both. If a Weaver can repair plate armor with a needle or a Culinarian can affix materia to a piece of cloth then why even require DoH classes to do those things in the first place? By that logic, the same can be done with a pickaxe, sword, or any other arm in the game.

Repairs are already available to everyone from NPCs, positioned at every aetheryte. Maybe they should just add repair NPCs outside of instances as well if people really have a problem with keeping their gear repaired.

And materia, I thought, was supposed to be a 3 disciple process, with each specific class playing its own role. This goes against that system and I'm not in favor of it. Besides, many people offer free melds if you know who to ask, myself included.

I mean what's next, every class is able to craft everything in the game? Where does it end? I find the most people that don't like the current system are those who don't like crafting to begin with. It's OK to not like crafting, totally understandable. But being able to fix and meld your own gear is part of the reward of leveling a specific class. People just want lazy/easy mode if you ask me.

i posted both are fine the way they are. you should have to be able to make an item to repair it.

i don't see me taking my suit to a jeweler to have them fix it. i have to take it to a clothing shop or seamstress.

the materia systrem, according to yoshi, was his idea of the crafting end game. i may hate the pure luck based system he put in place to attach it, but making it to where any class can affix it makes it even less useful.

to me both cases should have the class to make the item needed to do the work needed. if they want to make this change why not make it to where weavers can make the potions and food as well as the weapons. it's the same principle.

I am for it, I can't count how many times I have stood around hoping for someone with the right craft to respond to my shouts or wander by and fix my broken stuff when i have many friends with other varied crafts standing right next to me.

Lately they said they want to add a master rank to a craft where you can lvl only one craft in this rank, so if we reach the cap of lvl 50 and have only one craft to get, i think it's better to be able to repair with one job craft.

As for Affxing, i would like to use only one craft also.

I think repairs should be class specific but melding would be fine as an any class thing.
